He just smiled and went back to eating.

Though obscured by the city lights, the stars were out by the time they exited the restaurant.

Leo turned to face Ainsley, looking quite happy with the night out so far. Somewhat merrily and not at all in line with his tough-guy facade (which to be fair Ainsley already knew was covering a very sensitive guy), he asked, "So... ready to start phase two of the evenin'?"

"Absolutely. Are we going to knock something over?"

"Pretty sure a ski mask wouldn't help me get away with that," he smirked.

"No, I've got something more romantic planned. If you aren't afraid of heights, that is."

"I think you will find I fear very little. Lead on."

"I can believe that," he smiled.

He then led the way towards the London Eye. Like, directly towards it.

Ainsley more or less figured out Leo's design as they walked, but he wasn't intending to ruin it for him.

As they got nearer to the Eye, Leo said with a smile as he got out his ID, "So... I booked us a private capsule on the Eye. Thought being above the city like that would, yanno, be all romantic and stuff."

He had informed them of his special circumstances and they assured him that there would be no problems. He hoped it went as smoothly as the restaurant. And went over as well with Ainsley.

"I've never been on the Eye before." He replied, seemingly excited at the prospect of it by his body language.

"I just hope it's big enough inside for us to sit next to each other," he smiled.

"I'm pretty small. I can tetris into anything."

Moving ahead to the reservation booth, he said with a flirtatious smirk, "Can't say I'd mind that."

"That's because you're trying to get me tetris'd into you." He observed, literally while Leo was talking to the attendant.

Leo froze mid-sentence with a familiar look of embarrassment.

"You alright?" the attendant asked.

Shaking it off, Leo said, "Y-yeah. Just thought I heard something."

The attendant didn't look entirely convinced but didn't say anything about it. "Well, anyway, you're good to go. Enjoy yourselves."

Ainsley looked pretty pleased with himself, all things considered.

"You enjoy making me squirm way too much," he said with a slightly annoyed grumble as they made their way to their capsule.

"There's such a thing as making your boyfriend squirm too much?"

"There is when he has a history of anger issues. Poking the bear is a risky thing."

"Sooooooo I'm meant to live in fear that if I say the wrong thing, my boyfriend might have a meltdown?" He asked, arching a brow and slowing his pace a bit.

"No, of course not. I just... shit, I dunno what my point was. Forget I said anything."

Ainsley said nothing further and did follow along, though there seemed to be a bit of a tension in the silence that wasn't being addressed.

Perhaps it could be moved passed. Only one way to find out.

Leo knew he had let his fears about himself get the better of him, but was unable to say anything more about it. Instead, he focused on moving ahead.

"I'd say normal size guys first, but it'd probably be easier if I squeeze in first."

That said, he climbed into the capsule which was surprisingly roomy once he got his bulk through the door. He only caught his horns on the door once.

It was in that moment, Ainsley realized he didn't seem small to Leo.

At least, not any smaller than anyone else. He filed the info away as he slid in and immediately sat himself as close to the edge of the capsule as possible.

That was why they were there, right?

Leo cuddled up to Ainsley as the great wheel began to raise them above the glittering city.

"We're not even up all the way and the view's already pretty great," he said, only really half looking at the city.

Unfortunately for Leo, Ainsley was entirely consumed by the view. He was analyzing every detail of it, trying to commit it to memory.

Leo turned more of his attention towards the view, wanting to share in the experience.

"Not every day guys like us get to see the city this way, huh?"

"Yeah. For almost a month. During summer vacation. Fun times."

"So what's the dumbest thing you did as a kid?"

"Crawled into the lion enclosure at the Regent's Zoo."

He broke out into a hearty laugh.

"And here I thought I was gonna be the dumber kid!"

Reining it in, he said, "Wait, was this before or after your powers?"

He looked confused for a moment as his brain registered the accidental innuendo.

"I didn't mean it like that!" he protested with awkward embarrassment.

He spent a moment looking out at the city lights as the awkward moment passed.

"It really is a great view. Like a great big swarm of fireflies at rest."
