[Social] Room 103 - Wots All This Then

On a completely pointless stealth-mission, a flyer for a Spanish study group is scooting it's way along the wall of the hallway, stopping to let people pass and disappear through a door before resuming it's journey. When it finally reaches the door to room 103 it slides into the crack between door and frame and scoots along the ceiling like the world's flattest caterpillar. Finally, once it reaches a spot above the shiny new mirror in the common area of Mythology Dorm, Robin leaps out dramatically, lands in a blobby heap that bounces back up into human shape, pointing at the mirror.

"There you are!"

Seeing herself reflected in green was just...wrong, on so many levels. That was not her color in any way, shape or form.

It may even feel more wrong than Will slowly making his way out of the mirror -- slightly grey around the temples and in a comfortable sweater-and-slacks combo.

"Hey there, Robbiekins! So, you heard."

[Robin Stanton]

"It's definitely new! Unlike you, old man." she chuckles.

[Will Stanton]

"Well, seeing as how it is me, I don't think you can swing those 'old' cracks with such a fervor," Will laughed.

[Robin Stanton]

"Tell that to your greying hair, Daddy-o."

[Will Stanton]

"I mean, a fair point is a fair point, I suppose," Will laughed.

"So. What brings you 'round here, then?"

[Robin Stanton]

"What, you figure out some kind of new trick and you don't expect me to take a look-see? How's it work, you still in there at the same time?" she asks, craning her neck to look past DadWill and into the mirror.

[Will Stanton]

"Well, we're not entirely sure just how it works, yet -- this is all very new to all of us.

And by 'us', I mean...well, us. You know who I'm talking about," he added, rubbing his arm a little uncomfortably. "It's still a bit crowded in there."

[Robin Stanton]

"I can put two and two together at least. So the whole of you's in there and then you pick which one gets screen-time? Can you have multiple ones out? Is there a dumb tween version of you in there I could talk into doing stupid things? This is DadJokeWill, yeah? Or something like it?" she starts firing off questions.

[Will Stanton]

Will put both hands out in front of him. "Woah, woah, woah, woah. One question at a time, Robbie; this is all very new to me, as well."

"I...think that's how it works? I'll be honest, none of me has come out on our own just yet; we've always been reacting to other people in the room. We're still kinda...coming to grips with everything in there. This is a lot to take in all at one time."

[Robin Stanton]

"That explains the jacket and everything. You're very Dad right now."

[Will Stanton]

"Even coming across dimensional boundaries, you're not escaping parental supervision," Will laughed. "Close, but no cigar."

[Robin Stanton]

"What a rip-off! Come on, multiverse, get it together..." Robin shakes her head.

[Will Stanton]

"As for your other questions, I don't know, possibly but I'm not sure how that works, and I do a few more things than tell bad jokes, I believe you will find," Will said, laughing and shaking his head. "Lot of responsibility, looking after a little pink blob of shenanigans."

[Robin Stanton]

"Oh god, does that mean you're custom-made to supervise me?"

[Will Stanton]

"Hey, I like to think I gave you plenty of rope. Just gotta be sure to catch you when you reach the end of it, that's all," Will nodded.

[Robin Stanton]

"I can't run out of rope. I am the rope! I'll make more rope! I'm unstoppable!" Robin jokes. Mostly.

[Will Stanton]

"Oh, then you've gone and got your MOT so you can drive around on the roads, right? Since you're little miss unstoppable and all? And you would never think about sneaking into the private room of a death goddess, right? No, of course not," Will said, with a parental air of know-betteringness.

[Robin Stanton]

"Oh yeah, that is definitely something I wasted my time on!"

[Will Stanton]

"And this is why you need your father around, to bail you out. A Stanton can get themselves in quite a bit of trouble -- see, as exhibit A, being trapped in a mirror by a vampire and a banshee."

[Robin Stanton]

"But you're not trapped-trapped, right? I don't have to go around staking and... how do you deal with banshees again? Salt? Silver? Noise-cancelling headphones?"

[Will Stanton]

"Whiskey always seems to work the best.

But no, seriously, Robin. I asked for this. I was...having trouble coping. But you know that; you saw what happened with Tosh."

[Robin Stanton]

"Yeeeaah... I don't think Tosh gets you or me. I tried to help him but I don't get the science stuff. Glad the Vampire and Discount Morrigan did though! Or should I say Vlad? That's not offensive to Vampires, is it?"

[Will Stanton]

"I think you're probably in the clear there, though carrying around a garlic amulet isn't the worst idea in the known world," Will quipped back.

"And it probably makes sense that it took mystic astral juju to get me, as opposed to science. Your mother did her best, but we break too many dang rules."

[Robin Stanton]

"I do finally get why she'd break into random science explanations over dinner though. Being all tricksy, trying to make 'facts' and 'scientific principles' stick so we'd accidentally follow them. Clever!" she taps her temple with a knowing look.

[Will Stanton]

"And for everything she told you, I made sure to tell you two other things. She was always fighting an uphill battle, that one."

[Robin Stanton]

"I assume that's why she married you." Robin grins before sticking her tongue out at her Dad.

[Will Stanton]

"I mean, I can't disprove that in any way, shape or form," Will laughed. "But then, that's your mother for you.

We'll see her again one day, I'm sure of it."

[Robin Stanton]

"Of course! Just studying abroad for a while. Dimensional exchange program. Quantum Au Pair."

[Will Stanton]

"If I'm the quantum au pair, I'll have to get on the roomies about uniform and pay; cause right now, they just have me as the mirror master."

[Robin Stanton]

"As long as you're comfortable in there. You do seem much better from what I can tell."

[Will Stanton]

"Well...I think we're getting there. A process, not a destination, and all that jazz, right? Nothing worth doing was ever done in one step, and so on and so forth."

[Robin Stanton]

"I find most good processes involve some yadda-yadda-yadda in the middle." Robin nods solemnly.

[Will Stanton]

"Oh, I don't know. When you get a bit older and a bit wiser, you'll learn to come to appreciate the middle stages of things. The inbetween, the undone and the works in progress. Jumping to the last chapter of the book isn't always as rewarding as it may seem."

[Robin Stanton]

"Never finish anything. Got it."

[Will Stanton]

Will bopped Robin on the head. "Brat," he joked.

"I learned form the best."

[Will Stanton]

"Anyway, don't worry about your old man; I'm sure I'll be right as rain in no time."
