Sam lets out a long breath of her own.

"...I won't ask you to go back."

"I think part of you knew. Tried to protect me from myself. I have to believe what it told me was the truth, that I would not find my sister there, because if I don't... I'm not sure I would have had it in me to turn back."

"Not your time. Apparently I'm a bit of an authority on that."

"If you have any colleagues out there I'm not sure they'd agree but... I appreciate you playing favourites."

"Well it's my patch, isn't it?"

"Is it? I didn't exactly fall in glorious battle." she says with a hint of mockery.

"You'll get your chance," she says simply. She might actually mean it.

"Not everyone considers that a good thing. Some people are sane." she says, the defensive shield of snark coming back up.

"We'll just have to pity them."

Miriam let's out a scoffing laugh. "Just don't expect me to leap into actual battle for you."

"Not for me, no."

"Now you're just being cryptic for cryptic's sake."

"I just think you'll find someone you're willing to fight for."

"Take care, aye?"

"I appreciate your optimism. I'll see you around." she says with a mild chuckle.

Sam nods, and makes her way out.
