[Social] Putting it All Behind Us

The morning after the battle of the bands and the battle in the park, a groggy Will made his way out of Miriam's room and into the common area of their shared dorm room. It had been a hot minute since he had experienced actual biological tiredness, so he was really dragging this morning, as he made his way to the coffee machine and poured himself a cup. He just sort of stared at it for a few minutes, still trying to mentally awaken.

Both telepathic and feral roommates could tell he was more at ease and peaceful than he was the night before, both in terms of his mental state and just his physical posture. The fact that his mutation was still on the fritz wasn't making things easy, but he was coping better, at least.

((A bit timey-wimey; this happens after Will and Miriam the night before but before Will and his copies head down to Tosh to get tested. Open for anyone who might have business being there))

Shortly afterwards Miriam shambles out of her room, a rare sight in the mornings, her hair a bedraggled mess as if it had been soaked and wrung out before going to bed. She beelines straight for the shower without as much as a word, carrying her shower-supplies along with a blood bag and one of those gas-station mini-bar bottles of gin.

Will, pointedly, did not acknowledge Miriam as she exited her dorm and walked out. Too focused on the coffee, certainly.

"...do I want to know?" Sam asks, looking up from a book.

[Will Stanton]

"I don't know if you want to know; I'm not the telepath," Will yawned. "I just. Think Miriam didn't sleep as well as I did; that's all. "

[Samantha McManus]

"You don't look like you slept all that well either."

[Will Stanton]

Will waved his hand at that.

"Ah, I'm just not used to needing sleep, like, physically. It's been a long time. I'm sure my brain will kick in sooner rather than later. "

Will paused for a moment. "You didn't, uh, hear any of that last night, right? I was joking around some, but strange Morrigany powers can kick in at the least opportune times."

"...I don't make a habit of spying on people shagging. That's a different goddess."

[Will Stanton]

"Shag...no, no, nothing like that," Will said, putting his hands up. "Some power malfunctions and whatnot, but...no, no, no," he said, doth protesting too much. "We don't have that kind of relationship, really."

[Samantha McManus]

"Will, Miriam just walked through here with the most obvious sex hair imaginable."

[Will Stanton]

"Oh, that's just bedhead from not drying off properly after the shower last night," Will said, with a soft chuckle. "You know how impatient Miriam can get."

[Samantha McManus]

"You're still pretty terrible at lying, Will."

[Will Stanton]

"What, you want the full play-by-play?" Will grinned. "I though we weren't being voyeurs today?"

"I swear up and down, Sam; I didn't do anything with Miriam that I wouldn't have done with you guys. She was just being a good friend, is all. She offered me her bed because I didn't have another place to sleep, and my altered power got a little out of hand."

"...is she alright?"

[Will Stanton]

"I..." Will faltered for a bit.

"I think so. I thought so. She's a monoform, so shifting is obviously going to be a little more traumatic than it would be for you or me, but she was actually handling things quite well, I thought. Better than some others who I accidentally shifted.

Maybe there's some kind of delayed reaction that's causing her to be a little grumbly. Or maybe she's just Miriam, and grumbly is her default state."


Will was notably skipping over the part where he directly says that he shifted Miriam; simply leaving it easily implied.

"I'm not sure that's just... grumbly."

[Miriam Bell]

And that's when the bathroom door opens and a much more refreshed Miriam steps out, wrapped up in a bathrobe and her wet hair neatly slicked back. She still looks pale as a sheet with the exception of a hint of red in her cheeks, presumably from the now-empty blood-bag she's holding.

"Your concern is adorable, Sam." she says.

"I'm not sure 'adorable' is the first word I'd use to describe the Morrigan, but she's not wrong," Will agreed.

"I'm sorry for assuming that getting turned into a chocolate children's breakfast cereal might have been a traumatic experience."

[Will Stanton]

Will frowned at that.

"I've gotta get down to the labs; Tosh has some tests he needs to run," he said, making an excuse. "I'll see you guys this evening."

[Miriam Bell]

"Very funny. Did you have a leprechaun for breakfast?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Don't be silly, Miriam. Leprechauns are a sometimes food."

[Miriam Bell]

"Why can't you just be annoyed. It's too early for friendly banter." she groans, throwing her head back dramatically before slowly righting herself again with a more inquisitive look.

"Wait, you weren't genuinely upset that something might have happened to me, were you?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Will was just so bloody awkward about it and didn't want to talk. That can go a few ways, aye?"

[Miriam Bell]

"It's Will. He could figure out how to be embarrassed about enjoying a nice meal if you let him."

"But no, nothing traumatic happened. You're not jealous, are you?" she adds with the hint of a smirk.

[Samantha McManus]

"I about congratulated him at first."

[Miriam Bell]

"Gross." she says, though she's clearly joking. "Maybe if it was one of the green-haired ones."

[Samantha McManus]

"Well he's working on that, aye?"

[Miriam Bell]

"Him and the science crew. I suggested we try and sacrifice him to the mirror but he wasn't too keen about that."

[Samantha McManus]

"Right. I could maybe fix him, but we'd have to kill him again, and this one's distressingly fleshy."

[Miriam Bell]

"Good to know where your line for casual murder lies. Too fleshy."

[Samantha McManus]

"Well we know we can pull him back from the brink when he's clay and all his organs are optional, aye?"

[Miriam Bell]

"For a bloody war-goddess you can be amazingly stodgy sometimes. Yes, yes, it's an utilitarian concern but that's about as exciting as these perfectly functional blood-packs." she says, fishing the emptied plastic bag from the pocket of her bathrobe. "Hmm yes, quite, we shan't proceed without any and all due diligence."

"'Kill them all and let God sort them out' reads a little different when you're the one who has to sort them out after."

[Miriam Bell]

"So lazy... No wonder your congregation is two dogs and a confused piece of furniture."

[Samantha McManus]

"And a few hundred people who had their arses rocked off at the Marble Arch," she grins.

[Miriam Bell]

"Oh, oh are we counting that now, are we? Because I've danced in a crowd enthralled by me. Does that mean I get to declare myself as some goddess of celebration and indulgence?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Well, I do have a standing VIP invitation to the Raven's Crest..."

[Miriam Bell]

"Is that an invitation or a challenge?" she narrows her eyes at Sam with a thin-lipped smile and a smirk tugging at the edge of her lips.

"I'd say either one is going to involve you picking out an outfit..."
