[Social] Dorm 102 - Vic's Place

[Robin Stanton]

"Hey, it's important stuff. And so are the heavy topics, I s'ppose." she chuckles. "Besides, I don't think you guys know what New Wave Crackle is yet. But your kids are gonna love it!"

[Victor Freud]

"On a scale of 1 to 10, how similar is it to Ska?" Victor asked. "And bold of you to assume I'll ever succeed in tricking a girl long enough to have kids."

[Robin Stanton]

"Oh like the oldies stuff? Prolly, like a five or six. It's a bit more... electro-punk, lotta distortion on the brass. And hey, never underestimate the kinda weirdos you meet at a Xavier's school and who they fall for." she chuckles.

[Victor Freud]

"Hmm, usually the combination of electro and brass I listen to is electric swing... I'll have to check this out once it shows up. But you can be the ultimate hipster. 'Yeah I listen to a new band. You probably haven't heard of them, because they haven't actually formed the band yet'." Victor teased as he ate.

"I mean, I guess you're right. After all I managed to trick one... technically two as of today."

[Robin Stanton]

"See? Never sell yourself short." she says with a grin and an eyebrow-waggle that says 'pun very much intended'.

[Victor Freud]

Victor shot Robin a look, but he couldn't hold it and wound up cracking up into a little laugh.

[Robin Stanton]

"Aww yeah, still got it!" she laughs in turn.

[Victor Freud]

Victor shook his head. "I'm pretty sure the sole reason that people hate puns is that they're mad at themselves for finding them funny." He took another bite of his breakfast, speaking again when his mouth was mostly empty. "I'm gonna have to step up my game."

[Robin Stanton]

"I'm warning you, I had a pretty... well I don't want to say 'good' in relation to puns but let's go with 'prolific' teacher." she laughs.

[Victor Freud]

"Lemme guess... a New Yorker?"

[Robin Stanton]

"Technically, yes! Though you'd struggle to find someone who'd describe him as such." she laughs.

[Victor Freud]

"Well now that's an enigma of an answer." Victor took another swig before moving on to his second sandwich. "So, what is it you wanna do after school? I mean, I'm sure you had plans before, but I'm sure the jobs that're available in the future must be a bit... different."

[Robin Stanton]

"Oh it's just my Dad. He's from upstate New York. And I dunno, it doesn't feel like a regular ol' life trajectory is in the cards for me, you know? By choice, mind! I could just pretend to be a normal person." she says and the pink slowly fades from her hair as it loses some of it's bounce and becomes a plain brown. Her face settles into a plainer look, a little less overly expressive, slightly larger nose and rounder face but retaining a bit of that impish sparkle in her eyes. He might have caught a glimpse of her like this when Lippincott took everyone's powers though she was significantly pudgier then and this is clearly a more idealized version of that. The family resemblance to Will is still there but rather than being through body-language and general plasticity it's a lot more rooted in regular old genetics.

"But it just doesn't feel right, you know? Like being cooped up in some kind of mask pretending to be something I'm not? Not just looks-wise, my self image is so screwy that doesn't really bother me." she says, which is extremely easy to detect as a flat out lie to anyone who saw her reaction to being depowered. "But in terms of what I do? I couldn't keep a secret identity as somebody working in an office or an animal shelter or whatever for long. Plus that'd be a huge waste of potential. I'm an X-Men through and through. I'll help out with whatever needs doing but a normal job ain't for me."

Victor just let Robin talk, simply nodding his head as he listened. Too often people tried to interject when someone was talking, and that tended to get things off track. And if he was asking questions about her, he should at least listen. He thought about commenting on her appearance, but decided against it. He couldn't think of a way of saying "you look good not-pink too" and not just come out as awkward... or like he wasn't very faithful.

"I totally get it. You're absolutely right, not using your natural talents and abilities really would be a waste. But if you're really serious about this, you've really been overlooking something vitally important."

[Robin Stanton]

"Oh? What's that?"

[Victor Freud]

"You forgot to choose a code name." Victor really wasn't gonna let that go, was he? There was a certain self-satisfied smugness in his teasing, though he hid it behind his food.

[Robin Stanton]

"My codename is shut your butt!" she laughs. "Coming up with a good name is hard, okay?"

[Victor Freud]

"Eh... it needs some work." Victor said, continuing his breakfast as he thought. "The ancient Greeks used to believe that people could be possessed by Nymphs... but that opens the door to words like nympho and nymphet and such. Galatea was a statue that came to life... Golem isn't exactly flattering... Annie-Macy, like Animacy? No that only sounds like animation, that has to do with words, not a good pun....

"Hmm, you're right, this is hard."

[Robin Stanton]

"See? I do like the animation route, that's good. And trust me, I've had a lot of mythology stuff thrown my way. Galatea's fine in theory but it's about a dude who build himself a body-pillow that came to life and eeeeeh..." she chuckles. "Annie-Macy might be a bit clunky but it's good thinking. I animate things, I'm like a cartoon character. Much better than all the various plastic, rubber and bubblegum ideas I've heard before."

[Victor Freud]

"Yeah, I guess I was thinking more along the lines of that mishmash kitbash you threw together at the wharf than of your, admittedly, lovely complexion." Just because he was faithful didn't mean he wasn't going to slip in a compliment on occasion.

[Robin Stanton]

"Not the most glamorous use of my power, that." she laughs. "But it got the job done. But blech, that tar. Most stuff's fine to get into but if it's too... close to my own consistency or is too sticky it just kind of gets everywhere and takes forever to shake entirely."

[Victor Freud]

"Ugh, I can only imagine. It's bad enough when I'm helping roof a shed, I can't imagine it being... part of you. Guh."

[Robin Stanton]

"Yeah. Helps if you can comb it out with enough patience but would not recommend. You got some construction experience?"

[Victor Freud]

"Eh, some. I grew up on a farm so... jack of all trades, you know?"

[Robin Stanton]

"Better than a master of one." she smirks.

[Victor Freud]

Victor pointed at Robin with the neck of his bottle. "'xactly. If you can do a little bit of a lot of things, you'll never have trouble findin' work. And on a farm, there's always work to be found."
