Seven Years Bad Luck

[Will Stanton]

"Shoes," a whispered voice came from just by her collar. "With fake bottoms to add extra height."

[Ryn]

Ryn actually startles at that just a tiny bit.

"Ough! No! If I'd wanted to be taller I would be!"

[Samantha McManus]

"...okay, I guess I've been there," Sam concedes.

[Ryn]

"Humans always try to hobble women..." Ryn mutters. "That's not what 'fashion' is, right?" she asks suspiciously. The outfit she's wearing seems fine enough in that regard but 'heels' and some of the thing she's seen humans wear...

[Samantha McManus]

"Oh, you can move in heels. Trust me."

[Ryn]

"And I can fight with broken arms. But not as well."

[Samantha McManus]

"Okay, so I suppose you'll never be exactly fancy..."

[Ryn]

"I would not want to deceive Katarina." Ryn nods.

[Will Stanton]

'Katarina?" the voice behind Ryn's ear said, barely audible. "Not the princess, right?"

[Ryn]

"A princess? I don't think she is." Granted, she seems to be a lot of things and as far as Ryn can tell, good at all of them. Actress, Agent, Siren, Star. But no ruler.

[Samantha McManus]

"Huh. I guess there is a little resemblance, but she hasn't been mobbed by paparazzi so she hasn't been recognized."

[Ryn]

"Do all mortals have a counterpart in this world?"

[Will Stanton]

"Well, maybe not. It's just a name, after all. Not all Sams are the same Sam, right? Nor are all Morrigans the same Morrigan."

[Samantha McManus]

"I tend to think of it as if you plant the same seed, you won't necessarily get the same plant. You'll get something like it, but everything grows differently."

[Will Stanton]

"Well, that's for the best. Adding royal etiquette on top of everything else would be a nightmare."

[Ryn]

"I don't pay mind to who you decide to let rule you. Next to none ever held a heavenly mandate."

[Samantha McManus]

"They're easy to tell apart. Your one's not golden."

[Ryn]

"Humans and their idols." she says, making the obvious connection but missing the fact that her Katarina's pop-stardom isn't all that different.

[Will Stanton]

"Well, if we're Cyrannoing this, why don't you tell us what she is like?"

[Ryn]

"Hmm. She likes driving cars fast and to dance. She likes it when people listen to her sing but she's afraid to. She knows how to understand clever-words and use a niter lead-thrower."

[Will Stanton]

"Sounds...sufficiently violent?" Will said, straining for a complement.

[Samantha McManus]

"She's a government agent... ish."

[Ryn]

"I don't think she enjoys violence. She'd rather sing and fix her car."

[Will Stanton]

"I thought you said she was afraid to sing?"

[Ryn]

"Her voice affects people. It can be dangerous..." she says, trying to avoid giving away a truth that's not hers to share.

[Miriam Bell]

Miriam, on the other hand, has no such compunctions.

"A Siren, huh?" she says, earning her a deathly glare from Ryn. "So what, she's some kind of mythology-themed mutant? I hear that branding's all the rage." she smirks at Sam.

[Samantha McManus]

"They didn't know what mutants were when they arrived."

[Miriam Bell]

"Fine, perhaps she really is some alluring mermaid." the former vampire concedes. "Short, dark and broody here certainly seems to think so." she smirks.

[Will Stanton]

"Wait, are they mutants? It seems like that would be easy enough to check..."

[Ryn]

"I am not." she notes. "And it doesn't matter if Katarina is."

[Samantha McManus]

"I think we've seen enough weird shite that we don't have to get hung up on definitions."

[Will Stanton]

"Hrm, I dunno," the small voice said. "Sometimes, I find categorizing and sorting things helps you make better sense of the world. But I admit I have an odd perspective on things."

"Speaking of which," a voice said from the mirror, "What's the gameplan now? Just show up somewhere and hope our mystery woman checks her out? Are we looking for some kind of '80s-theme shenanigans? Must we locate a boombox?"

A second Will stepped out of the mirror joking - something which might throw Ryn for a loop because, as far as she knew, her Wyll couldn't do that, thank heavens. Or could he?

[Ryn]

"There's more of you!" she notes, tensing but managing to not fall into a full on fighting stance. She does eye Will suspiciously though.

"Katarina is investigating the passage to our world. I should go and see how they are doing."

[Will Stanton]

"Oh, we're all around, you'll find," Will said, with a grin. "You just need to know where to look."

The glint in their eye? That's something Ryn was familiar with from her own Wyll. The expression of it may be different, but that look was unmistakable. They were the same person, and quite mad.

"If you're staying, there's a great bakery I can recommend in Mutant Town. Make a day of it. Otherwise, I wish you luck on your journey."
