Room 107: Blind Leading The Lost

Postby Basil Benson » Tue Feb 02, 2016 3:26 am

Basil had packed up all his things into various totes, and borrowed a trolley from maintenance to move the giant load of belongings from his old dorm to the new one he had been assigned to. It wasn't until he got to the room that he'd put together where he'd heard that given name before.

Why do you hate me God? It's because I tried to get a girl to stick her tongue in my mouth at my bar mitzvah, isn't it?

it occurred to him it was a damn good thing he was already familiar with his new room mates powers, in that he knew at least he wasn't telepathic.

He slid the key into the lock, and opened the door calling out.

"Hello?"

Pushing the door open, Basil scoped the room for his room mate, eyes fixing on the boy as he assessed him up.

"Are you Vinny? I'm Basil." He introduced himself, and his arm went out, probably to offer a hand for a handshake.

"Yeah, that's me. Nice to meet you, Basil," Vinny grinned, attempting (and maybe not being the most accurate in the world) to shake Basil's hand.

Basil had by now learned to adjust for error, and reached out for the grasping hand, the two of their mitts meeting well enough.

"Do you like music Vinny?" He asked, recalling something Amy had said about him.

Basil reached into the bag slung over his shoulder to pull out his MP3 player and the small speaker.

"If you'd like. Certainly would help clear the hallway quicker."

Vinny would find a palette meant for unloading trucks in the hall, piled up with plastic totes that were clear. Vinny could see all of Basil's belongings through them, the closest one to him had what appeared to be shoes, and two bottles of something. Alcohol?

Basil had made the volume of the music so low it couldn't even be heard in the hall, but he had deliberately chosen a track he thought Vinny might appreciate.

"Just be thankful you can't see what's inside of me." Basil joked, grabbing one himself. " Sharing a hair-cut with Slim Goodbody is about as far as I want to take the similarity."

Basil stacked one just inside the door, giving Vinny some indication of where to drop it.

"That's essentially my version of the 'naked in class' nightmare. "

" 'Basil, -' " He states in a forced falsetto, trying to effect some accent not his own. " 'It seems all of your skin has melted off. Please report to the school nurse immediately. '

Then everyone else runs screaming while the headmistress is alarmingly fine with this turn of events."

Vinny laughed. "For me, it's ending up stuck halfway through my chair after I fall asleep in maths or something, and then having to navigate that through the halls to the nurse."

"Is that a probably unfounded nightmare like my own, or has that actually happened? Getting stuck inside something when you're kind of in it?

Not to pry. Just want to make sure if I see you halfway through your bed whether or not you're in any immediate danger."

Basil's figure shrugged. "Your guess is as good as mine mate. Lots of people have poked at me like a chimp in a cage, but no one has come up with an answer yet. I wish that they had..." Basil's voice got small and quiet near the end of his sentence, as he did when he was internalizing thoughts.

"Yes, I'm still present. My clothes can't stand by themselves. Yet.

Let's get the rest of these in and you can marvel at all the useless tat I own."
