That's Probably Fine

[Narrator]

The morning of the 17th, anyone walking down the common hall of the dorms would see a large, curved dagger stuck into the door of Room 105.

That was probably fine.

[Eliana Morgenstern]

"Certainly an odd bit of decoration," Eliana comments to herself, stopping to regard the dagger for a bit before knocking on the door.

[Will Stanton]

"Mmph. Minute," Will's muffled voice came from inside the room.

The dagger itself looked fancy--there were jewels in the hilt and everything. Probably would get someone a pretty penny at a pawn shop or something of that nature!

[Eliana Morgenstern]

Eliana continues to inspect the dagger while she waits. It reminds her of some of the pieces her grandfather used to talk about, though he'd never owned anything quite as nice as this. His pieces were more... sentimental in nature from his father and such.

[Will Stanton]

After a few minutes, a groggy Will opened his door, rubbing something out of his eyes. "MMmyes?"

[Eliana Morgenstern]

"Is this yours?" She gestures to the dagger, "It's a fascinating piece and I had some questions about it."

[Will Stanton]

"Is what m..." Will said, shutting up as he noticed the dagger.

"...Um. No. No, it isn't..."

[Eliana Morgenstern]

"Then why would someone leave this here? It looks far too valuable to leave unattended... or shoved into a door as the case may be." She looks down the hallway as if expecting to see other daggers jammed into other doors.

[Will Stanton]

"That's a...very good question, actually," Will hedged. "It's not normally something you'd expect to see, yeah?"

[Eliana Morgenstern]

"Not really no, but then I thought it might be some form of decoration," she says, reaching for it in an effort to 'gently' remove it from the door.

[Narrator]

It had been wedged in pretty far--"gentle" wasn't really going to cut it.

It was oddly cold, too.

[Eliana Morgenstern]

After 'gentle' didn't really do any good, Eliana gave it a good pull, applying some of her additional strength into the equation to try to lever it out of the door. That might not be terribly kind to Will's door though.

[Will Stanton]

It wasn't, as part of the door splintered as Eliana muscled the dagger out of its resting place. Someone very strong had apparently stuck it there.

"Goodness!" Will said, blinking in surprise. "Didn't expect THAT. I'll have to get maintenance up here."

[Eliana Morgenstern]

"Either this is exceptionally sharp or someone was very serious about putting it there," she comments, turning the blade over in her hands. "I suppose we'll need to take this to the admin building so they can find the owner."

[Will Stanton]

"Um, sure, I suppose that's probably the best idea. Like...

..the lost and found, do you mean?"

[Eliana Morgenstern]

"I think this is a bit expensive for the box in the Administration building. My family knows a collector or two who would give their eye teeth for a piece this nice."

[Will Stanton]

"Really? Then, uh, I guess it's yours, then, as far as I'm concerned."

[Eliana Morgenstern]

"Oh, I couldn't possibly. It was left in your door. Someone must have meant for it to go to you," she holds it out, offering it to him.

[Toshiro Narumi]

Tosh stopped halfway through walking past and blinked at the knife and damaged door.

"Seriously? Villains actually put knives in doors?"

[Will Stanton]

"Now, uh, we're jumping to the conclusion this was a villain," Will said, too quickly. "It could have been, um, anyone," he said, taking the dagger.

[Toshiro Narumi]

"A knife buried in your door isn't a threat in your universe?"

[Eliana Morgenstern]

Eliana looks very confused, "Wait... what? His universe?"

[Will Stanton]

"We're not in my universe," Will said, mildly.

[Toshiro Narumi]

"He's not from around here," he answered as if it were perfectly normal.

"Soo... any idea why there was a knife in your door Will? Cause that can't be a good thing."

[Will Stanton]

"Maybe it's from someone who doesn't like doors," Will said, evasively.

[Eliana Morgenstern]

"Why your door though? There are plenty of doors for them to take out their supposed door hatred on. Yours isn't even the first on the hall."

[Toshiro Narumi]

"Shouldn't there be a note? That's how this works isn't it?"

[Will Stanton]

"It's probably just some nut, and nothing to be concerned about,' he said, quickly, placing the dagger inside his room. "Seriously, just some...guy with knife powers or something showing off."

[Eliana Morgenstern]

"We have people with knife powers?" Eliana seems strangely fascinated by this possibility.

[Will Stanton]

"Probably! It's a big school, you never know what people might have. Knife powers. Fork powers. Maybe even spoon powers."

[Toshiro Narumi]

Tosh stared at Will skeptically. He wasn't a naturally suspicious person, but Will was definitely acting evasive.

"Plant powers. Rock powers. Uncanny dodge question."

[Will Stanton]

"I'm sure I have no idea what you're talking about..."

[Eliana Morgenstern]

"Maybe the security footage caught who did this? They do have security cameras here, right?"

[Toshiro Narumi]

"That they do," Tosh answered, "It's almost Orwellian, but then so is much of the UK."

He looked to Will, eyes full of scientific and amateur sleuth curiosity. "I should really take that knife too and run some tests on it. Material, age, origin, the works."

"Since nobody know anything," he smiled.

[Will Stanton]

Will shrugged. "Like I said, it's yours, if you want it," he said, handing Tosh the dagger after a moment's hesitation.

[Toshiro Narumi]

Not wanting to obscure future results even further, Tosh pulled his sleeve over his hand before taking the knife.

"I'll bring it back if you want, assuming Minamida doesn't want to give it to the police."

[Will Stanton]

"No skin off of my nose; nothing to do with me."
