Room 105 - Someone Searching For A Purpose

After getting 'dismissed' by Cam Shari heads over to check out the room next door, finding it unlocked and empty save for the boxes and occasionally loose pieces of who knows what. As far as Shari is concerned a number of radios or smartphones exploded and this is what's left. She shoves as much of the stuff to one side of the room, stacking some of it on the unused bed before letting herself fall down on the other one. Her backpack is keeping her somewhat upright, but it's still comfortable enough to elicit a satisfied sigh. This was pretty good, all things considered. She closes her eyes for a moment and dozes off almost immediately...

An hour or two later she suddenly jolts awake from dreams that dissipate almost immediately, only leaving a vaguely unsettling feeling behind. She shakes her head to clear it but whatever it was that had been haunting her in her sleep doesn't quite want to let go. She shrugs her backpack off and rolls her shoulders as she gets up, limbs moving in joints that are a little too loose as she tries to work out the kinks from sleeping half-upright before settling back into the correct places. Running a hand through her hair she sighs and decides to take advantage of the late hour to sneak into the showers and get herself cleaned up from days of accumulated grime and maybe clear her head a little. Rifling through the closet she finds an abandoned towel that seems clean enough and sets out to find the showers.

Some time later, in the showers...

With the towel wrapped around herself and her wet hair slicked back Shari steps out of the shower-stall, the sound of her bare feet echoing through the otherwise empty room as she walks up to one of the mirrors. Wiping away the accumulated mist from a thorough shower. She blinks at the face staring back at her. She hasn't had a chance to actually take a look at her current shape yet and it was always a little weird to be unfamiliar with oneself, even if she had a vague sense of her face just from having been the one to shape it. Maybe it's the silence of the dark of the night, the unusual surroundings of an empty shower room or remnants of her forgotten dream still bouncing around in her head, but staring at the stranger in the mirror unsettles her a little. Dredging up questions that she goes out of her way to avoid asking herself most of the time. Mainly the one that this face she's wearing is just as fake as any other. Features slide and readjust as she tries to just clear her head, try to find the shape that at one point must have come to her naturally. The face that once must have been hers, not constructed or borrowed from others, just something that is her. Or maybe not even that. Her earliest memory is that of being a young woman, but it's not like she is limited in that regard. But no matter what she tries, all that happens is that her face slowly cycles through features and shapes, eyebrows thickening and readjusting on a brow that rises and falls, sunken eyes growing brighter before she finally gives up and forces her face into a consistent shape. A couple seconds later two spots underneath each eye grow paler until she's satisfied with the markings that make the face looking back at her feel familiar.

Why get hung up about having one shape when you could have any you could think up after all, she tells herself as she takes off the towel to get dressed again, taking a moment to fix the slight webbing between toes that she'd subconsciously grown during her extended shower. Forcing herself to chuckle at that she pulls on the rest of her clothes and heads back to 'her' new room.
