Second Verse, Same As The First ((open))

Shari is in the common room, the speakers she'd hooked up for the party still around and she's blasting music through them. There's some physics homework on the table, but instead of paying that any mind she's standing on the couch, jumping around and singing at the top of her lungs. "So shut! Shut your mouth, 'cause I'm not listening anyhow! I've had enough enough of you, enough to last a lifetime through!"

Shane smirked appreciatively at the exuberant display from the safety of a doorway. He appreciated the lyrics, even if the song wasn't one of his favorites. He soon began singing along anyway.

That seems to earn him Shari's approval and as the song fades into repetitive Nanana'ing she steps on the back of the couch and topples it over onto it's side as she holds out her hand to Shane as if she was holding a microphone.

Shane caught on quick and took up the imaginary microphone. He sang the next verse as if on stage, jumping and moving and taking the spontaneous goofing around seriously. Oddly, his slightly green near-black jacket wasn't moving with his antics nearly as much as it should be.

"Hehe, nice!" she cheers when the song ends.

He bowed and smirked, "Well if you're going to rock out, you might as well go all in, yeah?"

"Pff, but going all in means you risk losing something. Nothing to lose here!"

"Bah. A little lost dignity never hurt anyone."

Beat.

"Obviously, I'm a terrible British person."

"Or so they say! Most British people also don't look like a shrubbery." she says so matter-of-factly it manages to not sound like an insult or joke.

"Most Brits can't change shape either," he added.

"Yeah. Though I'm still somewhat rubbish at it."

"It's surprisingly easy being green. Though turning green is much less pleasant."

"Oh!" she laughs. "Sorry, sorry... That's awful. What happened?"

"Beer. Car. Tree. One lifesaving secondary mutation and several months later I'm a literal vegetable. I'm coping better than I thought, though. Probably because it beats the shite out of the alternative. Plus regeneration powers are nice."

"Lotsa things are better than being dead." she nods. Then, after a moment of deliberation she adds, "Would you have picked this if you'd had a choice?"

"That's so weird... Who you are is who you are, no?" she says, the color of her skin and hair changing to white and red respectively. "Better to be some body than nobody, no?"

It said a lot about how used to weird things mutants get that he barely reacted to her demonstration.

"People can change. Albeit some more... literally."

"Yeah but you gotta embrace it. Can't be at odds with who you are, right?" she says, clearly trying to convince herself of that in the same breath.

"That sounds terrible..." Either she didn't get the joke or she feels some amount of pity for Shane's situation. Possibly both.

"Eh. Old emotional baggage I won't burden you with," he said a little more grumpily than intended. Pity wasn't something he wanted.

"Well alright. But everyone should feel right in their skin." she says as if she was reciting some kind of human rights charter.

Shari seems to think that over for a moment. "Yeah... guess that's true."

"Oh yeah, whole buncha things. Anything biological really, although some things are tougher than others. Plants are hard. They feel too rigid. Doesn't really mesh with how other things feel? Like trying to put on clothes made from cardboard."
