Xaviers!

After her encounter with Natalie and the subsequent reveal Shari slinks back to her dorm. She doesn't want to keep the other girl up any longer, but she can't really postpone bumping into Will. But maybe she'll be lucky and he's asleep or off somewhere and she can buy herself a couple more hours before she has to try and explain herself to the other shapeshifter. She carefully cracks the door and steps inside.

Good news! Will WAS asleep!

Bad news! There still was only the one bed in the room, and Will was taking up more than a fair chunk of it. And snoring.

In the greater scheme of things, that ended up about even in Shari's book.

"Sweet, I just gotta sleep on the floor and I get to post-pone telling him." she whispers to Natalie and, mostly, to herself.

"I wouldn't mind waking him up," Natalie whispers back, paying more attention to Will than Shari at the moment.

"Yeah but then I'm gonna have to... oh fine..." she sighs. She takes a couple steps towards the bed, trying to figure out how to best break this to Will. He seemed okay, so maybe he won't be too upset about it? She just has to explain it properly and not be an idiot about it. As she's thinking about how to tell Will she's a Skrull she is probably a little too preoccupied with her thoughts, because as she's reaching out to him her skin ripples back into green, kind-of-reptilian skin.

"Hey Will..." she starts before realizing that the hand that's shaking his shoulder is green and scaly.

"Nnn?" Will said, waking up slowly.

And then his eyes shot open wide, and he sprung off the bed right at Shari!

Natalie's reaction time isn't bad. She springs towards Will, but likely not before he's going to grab Shari, "Will! No! Hold up a minute!"

Shari trying to move out of the way pretty much just amounts to stumbling backwards with her arms raised as Will slams her into a bunch of stacked boxes full of stuff.

She tries to formulate a response in her head, something between 'I'm not with the others' or 'I want to help' but what ends up coming out is just a meek "I'm help!"

Will, now a little more awake, laid off after slamming Shari into the boxes.

He had just one word: "Explain".

"We crashed and they started making plans to take things over and I didn't want anything to do with that so I accepted exile through the Ritual of Transformation but Sam ended up piercing through the mental blocks and I started remembering who I really am and I'm really sorry!" Shari kind of blurts out rapidfire in one breath.

Will blinked.

"OK, explain, but slower."

"I ran away. Kinda. I turned myself into a human and blocked out everything else, it's... an exile of sorts. Punishment for going against the will of Kly'bn and Sl'gur't."

Will still looked angry, but Shari's explanation had sort of cut his thunder.

"And what IS the will of Kly-burn and Slogurt?"

"To spread the glory of Skrullos across the stars...?" she says carefully, kind of cringing at admitting what her fellow Skrulls consider a worthwhile endeavor. "They're not the friendliest of people..."

"Bunch of lame, half-wit shitty shapeshifters," Will muttered. "Alright. So you say you're here against the will of those bastards. And Sam's vouching for you?"

"No. I am," Natalie says, "We haven't had a chance to loop Sam in yet."

Will glanced at Natalie. "And how are you vouching for her? How do you know what she's up to?"

Natalie frowns, "Because I just know, Will. She's had multiple opportunities to have done something bad to me and she didn't. She had a chance to run and she didn't take it. She didn't have to reveal herself to me. I didn't know what she was until she did, but my opinion of her hasn't changed."

"Skrulls play deep games," Will grumbled, but backed down some more.

"I can't blame you... You really shouldn't trust me any more than the one you got locked up in the cells." she says, staring down at the floor. This was more along the lines of what she'd expected.

"Well, no. As far as I know, you haven't stabbed and tried to kidnap one of my friends, so there's more of a margin there. As far as I know, the worst you've done is commandeered my room."

"And to be fair, that was mostly Cam." she points out 'helpfully'.

"Is he a Skrull, too?"

"God I hope not. I don't think so. But hell, you might be one and not even know it. The method I used, it once was meant to foster understanding and bring us closer to other races. Now it just is the Ritual of Infiltration and let's them take your powers, your memories, everything."

"Is there any way we can tell if they've used the ritual?"

"Not... really. My people have been perfecting the art of shapeshifting for a long time. It reverts on death..."

"Perfecting my left boot," Will muttered. "Does the blood test still work?"

"Usually, yes. If they're in that deep cover, no." she says, frowning a little at Will. She might not agree with what they're using it for, but these are still the skills of her people.

"Fan-TAS-tic," Will grumbled, sitting back down on the bed.

"We just have to hope that if they do have someone here, they're not in deep cover."

"Just... be careful. And Will, I understand if you don't want me as a roommate anymore."

"Well, we'll see where we go from here, right?"

Natalie seems to relax a little when Will says that. "I should let you guys get some sleep."
