Outside the Dorms - Lost Dog

As the X-Corp van rolled up the drive towards the dorms, Stephanie looked out the window hesitantly, not really sure what to expect or how to react. As the van followed the bend in the road, the light hitting the window caused her reflection to become more prominent, and she looked away with a literal snarl of disgust.

She was a monster now. Fangs, fur, claws, a tail, and a wet dog snout.

The driver rolled to a stop, hopped out of the car and opened the door for her. "Thank...you," she growled, still struggling to form words with an unfamiliar muzzle in the way. She stepped out, hefted a large backpack over one shoulder, and picked up a large suitcase. A few boxes from her old dorm were getting shipped here in the next few weeks with some clothes--not that they'd fit her anymore--and a smattering of personal items. It was anyone's guess whether or not anything from her childhood would ever get seen again.

She nodded as the driver made sure the van was empty and then hopped back in and drove slowly away, leaving Stephanie staring up at the dorm entrance nervously, holding her enormous suitcase and backpack. The ridiculous strength that came with this curse wasn't all bad, at least...

Sitting on the stoop was a black clad figure in heart shaped glasses, sitting in lotus position, vapin'. The wardrobe mixed with the lip piercings and dark makeup suggested a moody sort, and she certainly seemed contemplative as she watched Stephanie''s approach.

"...hi," Stephanie said awkwardly as she approached the building.

The giant werewolf seemed almost as if she wasn't sure whether she could pass the girl to get into the building.

The Catapillar eyed Steph for a moment before replying with deep philosophical insights...

"S'Up?"

"new here," she growled, clearly struggling to form words that are easy to shape with her mouth.

She stood, motionless still holding the bags that looked extremely heavy.

"....Steph'nie"

Speaking of Wonderland analogies, a Cheshire grin curled around the bit of the e-cig before she reached up to tuck it away, with a cloud of vapour being extinguished and taken by the breeze.

"Emilie." She stated, sticking put a hand for a shake. "What room?" She asked, getting the sneaking suspicion this was the replacement for the last.

Stephanie hesitantly shook Em's hand, trying to be mindful of her rather impressive claws. "122,"

Thankfully for Emilie's part, she had done this before on many an occasion so was careful not to be too grabby at the sharp objects.

"Thas me too." She said in a friendly tone.

"I can show you there so you can put your stuff away."

"...sure," she replied hesitantly.

Emilie began leading the way, and while she caught on that Stephanie was a creature of few words, she had friends like that before.

Literally, three very specific words.

Just cause Stephanie 'don't know talkin' good' like Emilie didn't mean Stephanie couldn't understand her. Which meant Emilie felt it more than appropriate to keep talking.

"I get up early to work in the cafeteria for the breakfast and lunch shifts, so hopefully that won't bother you too much. Neither of the others minded much, but then again neither of them had the kind of hearing you probably got."

"S'ok," she reassured Em. "Step one is finding bed that fits me."

"Step two...better conditioner....lots of it," she looked down at her furry form, trying to lighten up a bit with a joke since her roommate seemed to be trying to be nice.

"I bet they moved in a new one while I was out today, they're good about taking that kinda stuff into account.

Prolly still the same shitty trial sized welcome pack conditioner though." She laughed.

"You got stuff that fits?"

Steph shook her head, vaguely motioning at the unstable molecule swimsuit style outfit she was wearing. "Just a few of these..."

"I bet we could raid the charity boxes and see if anybody left anything good. That's the stuff that's from lost and found that nobody's claimed."

Emilie let them into the room and flopped down on her own bed, indicating to Steph the bare side was hers.

Stephanie set her things down on the floor next to her bed then gingerly sat down on the edge. It was amusing seeing a giant werewolf trying to sit daintily.

She looked around the room after a pregnant pause, taking in her new surroundings.

"Thank you... For being so kind..."

To a freak.

"Naaaah it's nothing. I'm not that nice. I'm kind of an asshole actually." She laughed.

Behind her hung onto her wall was a photography class project of the D&D group. Close up, high detail photos of things like text in manuals describing monsters, dice, maps... In the middle was a photo of the group itself. Victor, Tosh, Trev, and Emilie.

Steph's eyes lingered for a long while on the collage before they widened in recognition.

"... Know Trev?"

"Yea." Emilie replied, smiling but looking a bit confused.

"I kinda know basically everyone around campus cuz I make em breakfast every morning. But I know Trev a bit better than most.

Do you know him from the Institute?" She asked.

Stephanie shook her head vigorously, pausing and searching for the right words, "Grew up with him...back home."

"This..." she said, indicating her current form, "just happened last month."

Another pregnant pause. "...dating?" she nodded in the direction of the collage.

"Trev N' Me?

Nah, couldn't take his bullshit." She laughs. She does however point one out, Victor.

"This one's got my name on it though, at least until he says otherwise or shows an interest in someone else. I'm putting him on layaway, so unless he says he likes you no muscling in. Kay?"

Steph nodded, finally tearing her gaze away from the collage. Trev looked happy. He'd lost weight too.

He didn't look like a furry hellbeast.

"Deal," she said, with what may have been an attempt at a smile.

There was a low rumbling in the room, and Stephanie hurriedly covered her stomach in embarrassment. "Sorry...hungry."

"It's cool." She said, grabbing a basket and routing through it, then tossing her a beef stick.

"Here, you can eat this while I show you where the cafeteria is. If you want."

"Don't eat mea--" she started to say, before her nostrils flared as the scent hit her and she ate the entire thing, packaging and all with a snarl.

If it was possible for a werewolf to look mortified, she did.

"uuuuh... Whoops.

Maybe take the package off the vegan soy whatever it is you pick up next time, heh." Emilie doesn't seem to linger on it.

"Don't worry, usually those things pass." She replied, in her experience with kids. One kid.

"C'mon, we'll go get you a salad or sommat."

"I want a fucking hamburger." she growled, before clapping her hands over her muzzle with wide eyes.

"I'm so sorry..."

Emilie smirked in amusement, dark lips curling into that mischeivous look again. If she had picked up on the threatening nature of 'the other', she paid it no mind.

"Girl, you a grown ass woman now. You swear as much as you want to in this dorm. I ain't ya mama."

"...just. Don't normally want to. Like this...a lot more...urges."

Stephanie sighed and pushed herself up off the bed. "Cafeteria?"
