"I'm sorry, Natalie. If I had realized..."

"But you didn't and I was stupid," she said with a sniffle and an attempt at a shrug. "So... yeah." She seems to have run out of things to say.

"I think...I didn't mean to hurt you, Natalie, and I do still want to be friends.

If you need time, that's OK."

"You are cool," she admits, "and I do still want to be friends." She takes a deep breath, "But yeah, I need some time. I've already gotten upset enough to mess up two of these things."

"...What are they?"

"Various things. I'm doing a lot of programming and I need different systems to test and work on." She sighs as she looks at the second dead one, which looks like a netbook that's seen better days. In fact, a close inspection of the gear on her desk would show that most of it was probably salvaged.

"Well, my offer still stands. If you ever need any help, you know where to find me."

"I'll keep it in mind," she promises, managing to bury the hurt enough to be at least partially encouraging.

"I'll...leave you be, now. And, again, I apologize."
