Xaviers!

The day after her trip all over the nearby countryside, Miriam has found a section of wall in her room and pinned the folded out map with the intersecting lines up on it. She's printed out the images she took and has added them to the corresponding location, as well as the translated runes and some notes about Erica and the location of the club. It looks uncomfortably like the beginning of one of those crazy-people walls with red string going everywhere, connecting newspaper clippings.

Wanda knocks on Miriam's door, somewhere in her mind expecting Miriam to just ignore her once she realizes who it is.

"Come in." she says, sounding distracted but not particularly annoyed.

Wanda opens the door, poking her head in, but frowning when she sees the map. "Miriam, I... what are you doing?"

"I'm trying to figure out what is going on with that bloody club." Then, as bit of an afterthought, she adds, "Hi Wanda."

"By going full on conspiracy theory," she asks carefully, slipping into the room as much as someone her size can slip into a room.

"Hey, the map isn't mine and this is easier than trying to get it on the computer. I thought you'd be happier I'm taking this stuff more seriously."

"Right now I'm just confused. Where'd you get the map?"

"Erica Carlisle. The club owner. Sam and Vivienne went to talk to her to make some kind of agreement or pact or what have you and I took the opportunity to... take a look around. Found this along with a bunch of what I can only assume are monster hunting tools." she says, still looking at her work rather than Wanda.

"And you just took it?" There's no accusation, more curiosity.

"She had a wooden stake in there. I figured she might be tracking the kinda people who tried to mess with you, but it was just... marking weird folklory kinda stuff you'd put into one of those 'Off the beaten path' travel guides."

"You chased some of these down?" She moves closer to the map, looking at the pictures and the runes.

"Yeah, although it felt like bit of a waste of time. I mean she clearly thinks they're important somehow and they both related to trees in some way, but why she keeps a map like that locked in her desk.... who knows."

"Well, it's bound to be important. People don't lock up unimportant stuff, right?" She studies the pattern, "If she's... no, that's ridiculous. There's not supposed to be that many of those, even if they are real."

"Well you got one thing right." she jokes dryly. "And I don't know what it is, but something weird is going on in that club. This is just... another piece of the puzzle."

"These look like some of the proposed maps of ley lines that I've seen, but even the most optimistic proposals I've seen don't have this many of them and they certainly don't have this many intersections. But they're theory even by theological standards."

"Well whatever this is, someone else tohught it was significant once or they wouldn't have build a stonewall there. What's weirder is that those murals are clearly not painted by some ancient pagans."

"Who were they painted by?"

"Not sure. Doesn't look like it was done by contractors and it's on a wall in the asylum up in Colchester. Could be that some of the patients did, but I wasn't going to stick around long enough to find out..." she says with some trepidation in her voice at the memory of being inside that place.

"Asylums are generally happy places or the sort of places to hang around," Wanda agrees, "Despite what teenagers dare each other."

"It's worse for me, because I can hear them inside my head. And I... really don't want to slip back into that kind of state."

"Understandable," Wanda says sympathetically. "You know you don't have to do this, right?"

"I didn't sneak into Erica's office for nothing. And I'm not letting some asshole get away with doing what he did to you..."

"Which is...? I mean, other than putting me into a cab and sending me home?"

"It's... the principle of the thing. Even if he didn't do anything else."

"Okay..." Wanda says carefully, "I mean, I don't remember what happened, but that doesn't mean it's not floating around in my head somewhere. You could look and see if he did anything that's actually worth chasing him for. Before you go even more conspiracy theory."

"I'm a little worried about what I might find..." she finally admits. "Would you want to know?"

Wanda ponders that for a moment, "Yes and no. I think knowing, even if it's difficult, might be preferable to having my girlfriend freak out due to possibilities."

"No I'm... I'm saying you wouldn't have to know, even if I can find something. I could make sure of that."

"I wouldn't ever ask you to do that, no matter what you find," Wanda says with some conviction.

"Fine..." she sighs as she walks over to sit down on the edge of her bed. "But there's a good chance this is isn't going to make me freak out less."

"Would you rather just leave it be then? I won't make you."

"You have a right to know. And I've just... seen too many dark thoughts. It can't be as bad as I'm capable of imagining."

"Okay," Wanda said, sitting next to her. "But first..." She leans in and gives Miriam a kiss, "I'm sorry."

Miriam seems a little surprised, but smiles appreciatively. "For what?"

"For how I acted in the infirmary. I don't... I was angry and I took it out on you."

"You were hurt." she just says.

"Doing what I felt I had to do, but that doesn't excuse treating you badly."

"Everyone thinks what they do is right. Mostly." she says with a faint smile. "Now do you want to find out what happened?"

"Might as well let you look. If nothing else, maybe there's a clue?"
