"I can't always be a wolf, even if it's simpler," she reasons as the last of her humanity returns.

Getting up, she heads for a suitcase in the corner.

Once the sounds stop, Wanda turns back towards Isolde. "It's..." Her cheeks color a little and she stares for just a moment before she tries to politely look away again. "Keep forgetting about that bit."

Isolde has collected a few scars over her life. They've healed fairly well, but there's still the fine silvery traces that speak to their presence.

"I'll be dressed soon enough if you're scandalized," she says, pulling on clothes.

"I'm not scandalized," she objects, "But it's not polite to do what I want to do, which is stare... I mean, admire."

"Flattery implies that I don't mean it," she points out, "if I wanted to pedantic. Or did you think I asked you to go dancing out of pity?" She turns back to look at Isolde, smirking now.

"I don't... really know what we are, yet. I'm still not used to the attention," she says as she finishes getting dressed.

"So make this simpler," she says, "Too much of this other stuff is complicated."

She looks like she wants to say 'Because I like to live dangerously', but as this appears to not be the time for levity, she answers truthfully. "You're attractive and strong. And despite the... unnatural origins, you're refreshingly... primal to my senses. It's esoteric to describe at best, but I'm trying to keep it simple."

"Time to readjust that baseline then," she says, stepping over to Isolde and taking her hand. Wanda's no fighter, but she slides inside Isolde's guard to give her a light kiss.

Wanda smiles at her, nose to nose with her at this point. "Might even be a very good thing, but there's only one way to find that out and that's to give it a chance." She slides her arms around Isolde's neck, "Want to give it that chance? This time with 100% less angry women in clubs."

Someone put a piece of mail in front of Isolde's door. It was postmarked in Geneva with no return address. It had probably been in her mailbox downstairs, the one she never bothered to check and someone had finally propped it up against her door. The handwriting looked somehow familiar, but she couldn't quite place it.

Isolde frowns as she approaches the door, bending down to pick it up.

Taking it inside, she slides a nail under the seal to open it.

The letter is neatly handwritten on good paper. As she unfolds the letter, a business card falls out. The letter reads as follows:
Hello, Mother. It's been quite some time and I'd begun to be concerned that you might be dead. It's good to hear that you're still among the living. I'll be in England for work soon and I'd like to reconnect. We could catch up and you might even be able to help me with the job. Contact me at the included number and let me know.

Love,
Eric

The business card just has a phone number printed on it with a UK phone number.

Isolde's frown only deepens as she reads the note.

She reaches for her phone and dials the number.

The phone rings several times before someone picks it up. The sounds of city traffic in the background greets her ears. "Hello, Mother."

*** Some significant time later ***

A voice mail is left on Isolde's phone from the school receptionist:
We received a call from a Doctor MacReady at the Doctor MacKinnon Memorial Hospital. Lydia Stanford passed away peacefully in her sleep and he thought you would want to know.
