"Why would the number of people change things?"

"More people means more assholes. Something the military tries to weed to begin with, so you were surrounded by people who were trained to follow orders."

"You're saying if people don't follow orders, they don't deserve trust?"

[Laura Kinney]

"What? No. Just that it's an institution where trust is mandated. Usually anyway. You probably never met anybody who you couldn't trust."

"How will I know if I can't trust someone?"

[Laura Kinney]

"You just... come to trust them over time. They earn your trust by not betraying you."

[Will Stanton]

"That seems to me like a singularly negative way to look at things."

[Laura Kinney]

"Some people trust more easily than others. It helps if you've never been betrayed or lied to before."

[Will Stanton]

"So, everyone's expecting me to lie to them," Will frowned.

[Laura Kinney]

"That's not really how it works. Some things just require more trust than others." she shrugs.

[Will Stanton]

Will frowned. "What should I do to earn trust, then?"

[Laura Kinney]

"There's no step-by-step guide. Just get to know them, let them get to know you. It'll happen on it's own."

[Will Stanton]

"Still seems backwards to me," Will muttered.

[Laura Kinney]

"Well, that's people to you. For what it's worth, on the teams you learn who you can trust pretty quickly."

[Will Stanton]

Will frowned, but the nodded. "I guess I'll hang out down there and see what happens."

"People will learn to trust you, just don't take it too hard if they don't just yet all the time."
