Will, with his military uniform even more neatly-pressed than normal, knocked on the door to Laura's office.

"Come on in!" she shouts from inside.

Will entered, nervously. "Miss Kinney? Do you have some free time?"

"Sure thing. Oh, you're army-guy. I've been wondering when you'd drop in." she says, throwing a dart at a piece of paperwork that's pinned to the far wall.

"You were?"

"Well you run around in army slacks all the time, figured you'd be interested in kicking some butt."

"Oh, I don't know about that. I just want to help people, and some people suggested this was a good way to do so?

I worked with scientists where I used to be stored. I haven't done much in the way of butt-kicking."

"Huh, serves me right for assuming. Well, we certainly help people, though it is mostly by kicking butts and various other body-parts."

"I know, and that's not my particular skill set.

I did put together a thing, for you to look at, about my skill set," he said, handing over a neatly type-written piece of paper. On it was a list of military-grade equipment--mostly scientific instruments, though some vehicles and other computer parts were on it as well, along with some more esoteric things such as "pool table, standard green felt".

"Wait, what is this stuff? Can you turn into all of this!?" she asks as she reads through the list.

"It's my resume. These are some things I tried to help out with at the base in Antarctica when I was kept there."

"Wow, yeah, I'm sure we could find plenty of use for some of these things."

"Of course. Shoot."

"OK...first of all, on the form, it said to get your guardian's permission. I'm not entirely sure who I'm legally supposed to get there. Do you happen to have those records?"

"Well, that's for the couple of students under 18. I believe you're technically older than that? And... also it said something about paperwork that I didn't read regarding you, I think? You'll have to ask Minamida about that. I don't think you'll have to get that signed."

"Alright...

And, um, do people need to know I'm on the teams?"

"Need to? I don't know. It'd be of much more value if they did simply because you could turn into something else in the field."

"It's just....I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable, and there was a bit of an incident at a party..." he said, nervously.

"I'm not gonna lie, a lot of these items here could be very useful and I suspect you'd be able to expand on that as well. You think people wouldn't trust you? What happened?"

She tries not to chuckle so Will doesn't take it the wrong way. "Yeah. I'd imagine most people are."

"Yeah. Some people expressed...concern..." he said, carefully. "When I shifted above and beyond what they were expecting."

"Did you turn into something dangerous or were they embarrassed?" she asks, still not quite following.

Will explained the incident of the beer bong, and how he altered the beer inside, based on his experience and training as part of a still in Antarctica.

"Because they didn't know what I was going to do before I did it? Because people don't like knowing their things are thinking?" he guessed.

This is so not what I signed up for. she groans internally. Punching things was so much easier.

"No, because if you had meant to do harm you could have poisoned her." she tries to simplify it.

"Well, yeah. But someone could have come in and shot her, too, you know? Or crushed her skull in. Just because they could do something doesn't mean they would..."

"No but she agreed to one thing and you changed that thing." she says, wrecking her brain trying to come up with a comparison that'll make sense to Will.

"No it's... People need to know what to expect. You can't change things up on people when they don't notice."

"I haven't done anything to not have trust."

"It's happened to me more times than I care to remember. Hell I've done it to more people than I can comfortably admit. You've spent all your life on a military base on a continent where the penguins outnumber the people. Nobody ever got backstabbed by a bird that can't even fly."
