Xaviers!

A bit nervous, Sam knocks on Miss Kinney's door.

"What the hell is going on today?" her voice can be heard muttering before a louder "Come in!"

"Uhm, hey..." Sam mumbles as she slips in.

"I don't mean to bug you or anything, I just... need to talk."

"You and everybody else..." she sighs. "What's up, kiddo?"

"Well I just... started figuring something out about myself that makes sense of some other things."

"Like, you know, that weirdness during sparring practice."

"You mean your instincts for fighting?"

"Yeah. Turns out you were kind of right when you said I was holding myself back."

"Told ya so. What brought on this new revelation?"

"I had... kind of a crazy night. So I was working with Miriam to see why I acted that way."

"And... look. I know you've got my files. You know I was at Muir and..."

"...if this is a dealbreaker for me being on the teams, I understand."

"Everybody had to learn to deal with their mutation once. From what I understand it's particularly rough on telepaths. I've seen nothing that would make it seem like you can't handle it. The opposite in fact. I wouldn't kick you off the team even if you were from Muir's other facilities as long as I thought you were being reliable now."

"I don't even know if this is my mutation or if I'm just... crazy."

"No one's 'just crazy'. If temper and a knack for injuring people or worse was a dealbreaker they'd found somebody else to teach you kids."

"I guess I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around this... being me."

"Like okay, collectively it all balances out but when that side of me comes out it's kind of... stark."

"...but probably that's more something to talk with Professor Reid about?"

"Yeah I'm really not the one to talk to about this crap. No offense. We have a guidance counselor." she offers, trying to sound positive but mostly sounding hopeful that she won't have to deal with something she's not sure she has an answer to. "All I can tell you is that there's nothing wrong with cutting loose sometimes."

"...right, right. I just... figured you should know because you're the one making sure the teams are safe."

"I'll let you know if I ever feel you're a danger to the team. Deal?"

"...alright. In the meantime, my part of the deal is I'm going to be trying my damnedest to get a hold on this."

"Just try not to be scared of it, yeah?"

"I'll... try. I mean, it's not bad when it's happening, it just... feels rather insane coming down from it."

"As long as you don't regret what you did you can probably afford to not fret too much about it."
