Gideon had done some preliminary investigations into Chase's old school, but he'd hit a wall trying to find anything about Chase specifically. After a couple more attempts he gave up and pulled up the number for the school.

"Better than hopping a flight to Hong Kong," Gideon said as he dialed the number for Chase's old school.

"Thank you for calling South Island School," said a pleasant, cultured female voice with an English accent.

"If you would like to proceed in English, press one." It was apparently a recording, and continued in an impressive array of language options.

Eventually through the menus Gideon reached ... "For Administration, press three."

After pressing three, he was asked to hold and classical music began to play.

"South Island School Administration, how may I help you?" asked the cheery man with a light Chinese accent who picked up a few minutes later.

"This is Professor Gideon Rede from Xavier's University in England," Gideon said, "Was hoping you could help me track down some records of one Chase Delacroix who was attending your school and after a lengthy absence is now attending our University here."

"Just a moment sir..."

Gideon could hear typing.

"Last attended about four years ago?"

"Should be around that point though students aren't always dependable when it comes to times, dates, and so on, eh?" Gideon said, "We were hoping to get copies of his records sent over to us, so that we can finalize a few admission items on our end."

"Just send a request form to our fax number and we'd be happy to... hmm? The file is flagged for some reason. I'll need to ask someone about that before I can help you," he said, sounding apologetic.

"Its not a problem," Gideon said, "I'm sure you can understand though that we would very much like to know why a student's file would be flagged in such a way."

"I'm sure it's nothing to worry about sir. Please hold a moment."

After quite a few moments, a different voice came on the line.

"If this is a sick joke, it isn't funny," the gruff voice said defensively.

"I'm not known for my sense of humor," Gideon said, "I also certainly wouldn't be calling from England on a lark either given the cost."

The man was silent for a moment.

"The Delacroixs were friends of mine. If you've really found him..."

"Well, after a few sessions he remembered your school and his last name," Gideon said, "I'm reasonably certain but children aren't generally in the system for me to do a DNA test, eh."

Fortunately every student had their picture taken for their IDs and Gideon had access to that system, so after a few keystrokes he pulled up a picture of Chase.

"I do have one of those," Gideon said, "I just need someplace to send it."

For once this has gone smoothly

"Thank you, I look forward to receiving it and reviewing it with Chase," Gideon said before providing contact information to the school administrator.

"Frank... Mister Delacroix... was invited to take a small trip on his boss' yacht, him and his family. They were caught a sudden storm and the wreckage was finally found a week later. Until now there were no known survivors."
