"But they weren't more severe and people will learn and improve," Michaela soothed. "Everyone does what they have to do."

"We won, right? That counts for something."

"The only reason none of us are crippled or dead is dumb luck," Onyx says. She sounds frustrated and annoyed, "You are all hurt because your team leaders and their direct superiors did not have the sense to realize you were not ready."

She shakes her head, "I am sorry. This is not helping. I should go."

Tosh just kept silent and looking vaguely ashamed, because he couldn't exactly disagree with Onyx.

"If they didn't think we could handle it, they wouldn't have sent us. We handled it. You should be celebrating what we accomplished."

"Yeah. I didn't get hurt because of you, Onyx. I should have been more careful, is all."

"This is not 'handling it'," Onyx says. "This is unacceptable."

Onyx bows politely and turns to leave through the door.

Michaela shook her non-injured heads. "She'll need to loosen up or she'll never survive being a team lead with her sanity intact."

"Maybe we need some kind of team outing."

"Not a bad idea, but I don't think that will actually help her."

"Well, her aside, you guys should go out and celebrate. We used to ask the cafeteria to break out the ice cream when we came back from search and rescue. They'd probably do that here."

Tosh quietly slinked away. He didn't feel he deserved celebrating.

Nash turned and watched as Tosh left. He started for the door as well then stopped.

"We'll celebrate in the XUB and it'll be fun and it's exactly what Onyx needs. Crime-fighting is, like, all she knows. Come on guys, we won, why is everyone so glum?"

Nash smiled. He looked at Michaela with a grin before nodding his head slightly in Nailah's direction.

"Okay, I'm not sure you're going to be able to get Onyx to join us though."

"I'll drag her there myself if I have to."

"I have to stay here overnight. They want to make sure I heal properly. Regeneration can be fickle sometimes."

"Then we'll do it tomorrow maybe. I probably should take it a little easy anyway." she admits begrudgingly.

"That's probably a good idea, some medicines and alcohol don't mix."
