Xaviers!

Instead of the regular hospital area, Stephanie is wheeled right to the labs in the back, where more specialized personnel handles power complications. Archaea is following right behind her, looking like she'd rather be anywhere else but coming along regardless, driven purely by guilt. Inside they can see Beast in the back, talking to Laura who is cradling her hand, looking at X-Ray's of a crushed hand and wrist. She looks pale. As does the medical tech who steps up, taking one look at the werewolf with the tumorous growth of fingers and horns and muscle growing out of and over her shoulder.

"Oh god..." To his credit, he doesn't throw up. He merely looks like he's about to. "Uh... right over here. What happened?"

“I don’t fucking know!” the werewolf roared, coating the poor lab tech in spittle.

“She touched me and I turned into this fucking....THING!”

Archaea shrinks down into her hoodie even further somehow.

"It was an accident... my power..." she says, sounding as if she's worried Steph might tear her limb from limb. "I've been practicing. I could try to fix it..." She doesn't sound very confident.

Stephanie let out a low growl and turned to face the poor girl in the hoodie. “You’ll *try* to?”

At that she just kind of stares down at her feet, lips pressed into a thin line.

"Okay, everyone calm down a bit. Have you tried shifting back to human yet?" the lab tech cuts in instead in that obnoxious half-questioning, half running-down-a-checklist tone that medical personnel sometimes takes.

I wonder what human tastes like...

"Of course I have!" Stephanie snarled at the lab tech.

Oh my lord, no! These people are trying to help. Shut up! You're not driving right now.

"...sort of," she added more meekly after a moment of silence. "I'm...not very good at controlling it."

She turned back towards Archaea, "...sorry for growling...I'm...not good at this either."

Stephanie took several steadying breaths and tried to envision her normal, human self, without the John Carpenter-inspired additions sprouting from her shoulder.

It's not any harder than before at least, barring her emotional state not helping. But she can feel something catch in her shoulder, like a pulled muscle or strained tendon, that's getting dragged along with the transformation. The good news is that the growth shrinks. The bad news is that now the fingers sticking out look distinctly like her's and instead of a gnarled horn there's a bunch of coarse hair around a handful of misshapen teeth.

"That's... better." the MedTech offers. "A little?"

“This...is awful. I look like a freak. What the hell did you do to me?” she whimpered as several of the fingers twitched.

"It's not like I had much of a choice!" she manages to raise her voice a little. "That creepy puppet did this!"

“Just....try to make the creepy hands go away, okay?” Steph sighed.

The fingers grasped for strands of Steph’s hair unnervingly.

"I... I'll practice harder. I'll fix this, I promise!"

“What? What do you mean you’ll practice? You can’t do it now?” she asked, panic in her voice.

“Can’t you cut these things off or something?!” She snarled at the tech in there with them.

"I don't want to make it worse..."

"We could try to operate, yes. Shapeshifters tend to have a healing factor as part of their power to smooth over the transition between body configurations, but we can try." the tech supplies.

Tosh forced his way inside despite all objections.

"I came as soon as I... could..." he began, eyes widening, "Oh God... Steph... wha... what happened?"

“She touched me during the attack and I turned into something out of an HP Lovecraft fever dream,” she whimpered.

With only the barest of judgemental glares at Archaea, Tosh made his way closer to his girlfriend.

"It'll be okay. You're in the right hands. If anyone can fix this it's Doctor McCoy."

Steph stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Tosh, putting her head on his shoulder but trying to keep the strange fingers on her shoulder from touching him.

He held her tight, looking past her at the tech with the hope that reality would support his assertion.

He's no medical professional, but he knows how to read what the machines are telling him and it doesn't look super great. The scans show that the mutated tissue goes deep and is filled with a lot of blood-vessels and nerves that'd make operating difficult and runs a real chance of costing her an arm. The fact that she's a shapeshifter complicates it further. Her best bet would be Archaea undoing what she did, but as he looks around the young woman has slipped out of the room.

Tosh held her just a little tighter. "I'm sorry I wasn't there," he said regretfully.

Stephanie just sighed in resignation, leaning into the embrace and trying not to think about her new addition sitting on her shoulder.
