With Jez's encouragement, the Dormouse started moving.
As it did, the next room would remain a fog as the Dormouse sniffed about, circled around, and 'investigated'. It would take awhile for the brain to materialize into being what she thought was in this next room. Eventually, a hallway materialized. The Dormouse sat back on it's haunches, and observed the room she'd built, trying to surmise if it was right. Once she more or less convinced herself it was, she would move onto the next, then the next.
It seemed like painstakingly slow work, at least in terms of things that happened in a mindscape. but eventually, room by room, the Dormouse created a mental map of the layout. When Sam compared it to what she already collected from Basil, she would have an understanding of the internal workings of the facility.
The complex itself was circular, and the different wards too were layered in rings. The outer most ring contained the general population and what appeared to be rooms for solitary confinement These two sections were split from one another by a mess hall of some fashion. The middle ring contained facilities: examination rooms, laundry and other utilities, and even the kitchen where the mess hall was fed from. The core of the circle overlapped with Basil's 'mind map' exactly. This core was where the Dormouse started their journey and eventually ended it as well, having looped back around on it. In between there rings there were series of Hallways that would definitely confuse anyone who wasn't mindful of the layout of this place.
The biggest issue however, was the gaps in rooms. Some rooms the Dormouse simply couldn't identify. Obviously there was something there, but she had no idea what would be in those places, nor exactly how big the rooms themselves were.
The second biggest issue was that having no ability to access the outside, the Dormouse could give no hard clues about 'which end was up' in terms of cardinal direction.
