"That's... a lot of strange things to claim. You sure she was telling the truth?"

"I'm not, but I wasn't going to risk it until someone more experienced had a look."

"What could be the point in doing that?"

"Well if you escaped before they were finished, then maybe it was going to be more... all-encompassing when they were done?"

"That's a scary thought... and more than a little existential."

"It's like a spy thing, aye? Manchurian Candidate stuff."

"I..." Something seemed to dawn on her and she frowned, scratching her chin.

"It's... just a guess. There was a memory there where they were yelling at you to only speak in English."

She grabbed her laptop off the side table and starting typing away. After a few moment, she turned it to Sam, showing off a news story.

"What's... what's this got to do with it?"

"Think about it, Sam. Turning me into an unreasoning raging murder machine with programming. All she had to do was whisper in my ear."

"Well it's a neat trick, but you can only do it once."

"I wasn't the only one at that 'school'. I might not be the only one they did this to. How much do you think I would stick out in your average American population?"

"That's the part I'm agreeing with, but they wouldn't go to such lengths to get you back if all they were going to do is turn you into a bloody suicide bomb."

"There's something here that doesn't add up. My 'sister' was dead set on taking me with her until Vivienne said she'd rather the kill me than let them keep me. That's when she whispered in my ear and released me.Maybe she was just there to make sure I was dealt with... one way or another. A dead or alive sort of thing. Maybe? Man, I don't like thinking about this."

"Well we don't... have to talk about it, aye? It's not really my business, and Professor Rede is the only one who needs to know."

"I don't know." She bit her lip, "It's just a lot to take in. I'll need to talk about it eventually."

"At least now, you've got time on your side."

"I hope so. I'm just worried they'll come after me again. Or one of you guys."

"There's something to be said for everyone being aware of the danger, aye?"

"Yeah, but there's still that bit of me that feels like it's my fault."

"I *know* that, but I can't help how it feels."

"I'm sorry. I'm not... trying to tell you how to feel, aye?"

"It's just kind of painful to see you doubt yourself like this."

"My past wasn't big on positive reinforcement and self-esteem. It's hard to remember how to feel awesome when you're confronted with some related and decidedly not awesome things."
