"I didn't want her to let those birds in. She used her power, I used mine..."

"She used her power on the bloody window. How is that different from having fingers?"

"It just is. So what, I made her do something. She was being a bitch anyway. It's not like I hurt her."

"She's still working to overcome brainwashing."

"I told her not to let them in. It's not my fault if she decides to be an idiot."

"It's your fault if you stomp all over her biggest trust issue just because you panicked."

"Pretty sure I can't betray what's not there in the first place. Let's just get your bloody aspirin and get out of here."

"You know what? I probably could!" she says angrily holding out her hand for a passing orderly to put a bottle of aspirin in it.

In the distance, towards the front entrance, a loud commotion could be heard, mostly with the "you can't come in here with those!" variety.

"...lovely, more nonsense." She grumbles, looking towards the commotion.

"What's this now?" she turns her head, distracted by making the orderly hand over the painkillers.

It was not every day that a flock of ravens infested the entrance way of a medical facility--it's unsanitary, to say the least, but that's what Will was leading.

"MELPOMENE!" he shouted, striding forwards and looking around.

"That's not my name!" she snaps back before it really registers who it is and what he's brought with him. When she does her eyes go wide in fear.

Will stormed back, looking between the...two Miriams.

"You have 30 seconds to explain what's going on here."

"Sam is insisting on playing a joke on me. She's been annoyingly persistent."

"It's not a joke. Sam's head was getting unstable and rather than have it escalate and turn her into a shifting pile of bodies Miriam gave her a stable focus. It just... worked a little too well." she says, backing away a little and eyeing the ravens wearily.

Will looked back between them.

"A little too well," he sneered, taking a step forward. "Which one of you is Sam."

WIll blinked.

Will swore, and punched the nearby wall. "God damn it, Miriam. You finally did it..." he swore, leaning up against the wall.

"You finally beat Sam. You turned her into another...another version of you, you narcissistic, self-centered, vainglorious..." Will trailed off.

Turning, he headed for the exit of the medical center.

"That's. Not. ME!" she spits out alongside a mental spike aimed at Will. It's lacking in finesse or even any particular goal, just raw frustration lashing out.

Miriam looks pained for a moment. She didn't want to hurt Will, but she also doesn't want to admit she was wrong. Because she wasn't. This is all just Will's fault. Will and his bloody memories of a different person. "I just... it... just happened." she stammers, slowly backing away from Will and the other Miriam. This was getting worse by the second.

From his position on the ground, surrounded by ravens, Will gave a look of hurt, anger and...despair, probably would be the best way to describe it.

Then, where there had been an X-Team member, there was just another raven, and it took off towards the exit as fast as it could fly.

"You just proved him right about us."

She blinks in confusion.

"Us? No..."

She starts walking towards the remaining ravens.

"I don't want to be you anymore."

"I can't say I blame you for that..." she mumbles to herself, realizing that she could no longer delude herself into thinking she could walk away from this and somehow turn out to have been the one that was Sam. On some level she'd known the whole time.

She puts her arms out, and the ravens fly towards her. Her skin ripples as they collide with it, disappearing into her. Ginger locks appear one by one as her frame and face shift back towards what they should be.

To Miriam, it feels like nothing so much as being shrugged off of Sam's mind like a coat she no longer wants to wear.

"...I'm not going to apologize to them for you."

"Apologize? Are you --You're serious. Apologize." she says, going from kind of flabbergasted to angry over the course of the sentence.

"What does it matter. He's made up his mind about me." This was exactly what she'd suspected would happen. She'd talked herself into helping anyway in the hope that it'd help a little but since when had trying to do the right thing ever worked out for her. It simply wasn't worth the effort to try anymore.
