Reality exists in the human mind, and nowhere else.

Built with a generous grant from one of the University's benefactors, this clinic serves as a small teaching hospital as well. More severe injuries are stabilized, then transported to Muir Island. It also houses the University's research laboratories.

Reality exists in the human mind, and nowhere else.

Haley got Basil to the infirmary easily enough, he weighed far less than some of the cars she had lifted and smashed in her day, only about 150 pounds by her Americanisms.

Nothing had changed about his condition, despite several attempts through various methods to rouse him by medical staff. It seemed until someone telepathic with some authority showed up, they may not be capable of getting him awake again.

And God only knew when that would be.

"Could it not have been... could not someone have slipped somezing into his drink?"

Colette just watched with concern. She didn't have any telepathic powers; technically she didn't have a brain. So most of this talk went over her head. She couldn't do much more than just sit and hold Basil's hand.

Basil's mindscape isn't difficult to traverse even for a layman like Haley. The two find what they are looking for with ease: A wall with a rod iron gate, the kind Sam might mentally associate would be barring them access to someone's garden, with a old-style padlock and chain keeping it locked.

It seemed sturdy enough, but appearances could be deceiving.

Haley sat in the chair in the infirmary, closed her eyes and focused for a moment and then watched through her slowly opening eyes as the ravens emerged from Sam. Her own avatar, a surprisingly taller, idealized version of herself dressed almost like a steampunk cowgirl emerged and followed behind the birds.

The lock 'belonged', not placed there by an outside source but by the owner of the psyche they were in.

On the backside however, Sam would 'feel' an engraved image into the metal. When inspected further, it seemed to be a crudely designed jelly fish.

Upon inspection of the immediately vicinity, neither of them would spot anything even remotely similar to a jellyfish.

Haley's avatar nodded, and back in the infirmary, her physical body spoke, her eyes still closed.

"Colette...we need you...in here," she said in a trance like voice, "this might feel...a little weird."

She tried to extend her telepathy to bridge all four minds together. It was crude, and she had nowhere near the refinement of Sam, but it would probably got the job done.

...hopefully without damage.

To Colette, not a lot had been happening. So Haley's comment caught the girl in a bit of a daze.

"In where?" She asked before her vision went fuzzy, as if she were falling asleep. She might not have had a brain the same way that other humans did, but she did still had a mind. Which meant like everyone else she was linked to the Astral, though unable to tap into it on her own.

If Haley had trouble maintaining the link she could always reach into Colette's head and give her nucleus a squeeze for a direct connection.

What joined the two on the other side was... not quite like the pink googirl in the flesh and blood world. Feminine in shape, it lacked defining traits like facial features or hair. It looked to be made out of some sort of glitter slime, but looking closer it was almost like a void that contained its own universe, twinkling glitter in purple and pink goo or glittering starts swirling in multiple nebulae, both yet neither.

There didn't seem to be a disturbance in Basil's mindscape by Haley bringing in a new entry.

A few moments after Colette asked her question, A wardrobe appeared over her. Clad head to toe in black latex, her attire was some how simultaneously more and less revealing than her Halloween costume.

In a corset like top and a ruffled skirt that had an asymmetrical cut to the left, her arms covered in opera length gloves and her legs in thigh high platforms that matched, she was dressed like a villain out of a steampunk novel.

On her head a fascinator was placed at the normal, jaunty tilt that bore an embellishment of a small jellyfish charm in multiple colours.

Familiar with what it felt like to have foreign objects stuck inside her, Colette would feel something buried in her chest now. Upon closer inspection, it was attached to a heavy necklace chain which was around her neck.

Colette looked down at herself, seeming to be rather absorbed in her "skin" as she was in her attire. Apparently her choice of costume that day had made an impression.

"He is not... I mean, we... nevermind." The "woman" fidgeted and reached within herself to produce a length of necklace chain, hanging from which was a very ornate and old-fashioned key, the bow in the shape of a jellyfish.

The gate swung open to reveal it didn't lead into a garden at all.

It was a tunnel, wide enough only to pass through single file. It was clear that someone was expecting Colette, but why that would be still wasn't apparent. But it was obvious any answers they would get wouldn't be found on this side of the wall.
