Reality exists in the human mind, and nowhere else.

Built with a generous grant from one of the University's benefactors, this clinic serves as a small teaching hospital as well. More severe injuries are stabilized, then transported to Muir Island. It also houses the University's research laboratories.

The Bohemian lead their search party with a sigh.

"Bloody hell, is every boy on campus constantly accused of having a ginger-fetish, or am I just special?!" He griped, frowning at Sam.

If Samantha found Basil's imagination creepy, she'd definitely find it extra creepy when, in unison, the ten or so that had followed her and Basil turned in sync along with the Bohemian himself to glare at her.

"You know what love? I get enough fuckin' harassment as it is. This is the one place I can go where I'm not treated like a freak of nature. You don't like how I operate then fine. But you don't get t'tromp around my city as you please, playing the critic.

Go with the other ladies if you don't want to come with me."

His tone was cold not unlike the Bailey's, but Samantha could feel that the attitude behind it wasn't disdain. Whole or not, this little bit of Basil had been genuinely hurt by her comment, suggesting perhaps Colette's assessment with how Basil felt he was viewed by others had some merit to it.

The Bohemian's attention was immediately swayed, and his dark mood lifted just at having been spoken to by Colette.

"I'd be curious to know." He replied. "Or is this more akin to you looking for test subjects to collect empirical evidence? I'm game to volunteer if you're looking for a lab-rat."

If he wasn't flirting with Sam earlier at the party then he was definitely flirting with Colette right now, smashing it in with all the subtly of a ball-peen hammer.

"Yes, let's do that." He replied, and started off, assuming Sam would follow him.

The two groups would meander for some time finding nothing of notable interest.

In Sam and the Bohemian's group, the ladies would periodically circle back on him for attention but he'd wave them off and refocus them on the task at hand as necessary. To pass time as they searched he'd sing to himself, monologue bits of plays (including parts of a script for a play revolving around a particular magician of note), tell jokes, and basically do anything to keep his mouth moving.

For a would be librarian it was downright contrary how he seemed incapable of shutting the fuck up for five minutes.

Extra strange was that he still seemed capable of searching during all this chatter.

------------------------------

Haley and Colette's group were thus far equally fruitless. The figments were just as easily distracted as with Sam and the Bohemian, but like with him, Colette was capable of refocusing their attention easily enough, though Haley was not. That was until abruptly, the whole group stopped to stare up at something ahead of the two women.

A giant stone statue of a female stood before them. She loomed formidably, though exactly what emotion she was originally conveying was lost due to the fact that someone had quite literally defaced her, making her identity and expression a mystery. She had long, silky, full hair and an artificially curvy physique thanks to her tight bodice, her clothing conveying a woman of higher breeding than the attire of the figments. In fact, if one were making comparisons, her outfit was much more in line with Colette's own.

The girls obviously recognized her, and spoke in hushed voices to one another in a language their own, seemingly gibberish.

One of them heard Haley's question and turned to answer in a hushed, conspiratorial tone.

"Mistress." Was all she had to offer as a response.

The one seemingly least effected by it's presence broke away first, turning her head towards the building the statue stood outside of. The words 'Bibliotheca Basilii' were carved into stone above the archway entrance.

In an unusual show of independence, it broke away from the group while the rest continued to gawk at the statue.

"I sincerely hope zat zis is not some Oedipus complex zing." Colette mused softly before noticing that one of the ladies had drifted off from the rest of the pack.

"I believe someone has picked up a scent." She motioned to Haley and the others, looking up at the stone archway to the imposing building.

"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!"

The group of girls commented at Colette's observation about Basil's mother issues in unison, somewhat confirming that probably wasn't the case? As if to hit the point home, one of them said- "Mistress, not mother..." forming what collectively considered to be the first valid sentence among them.

The blond continued up the front steps until Colette stopped her and gave her instructions to go and find the Bohemian. She tilted her head and furrowed her brow, but then did as she had been told to do and doubled back. She disappeared right through a building, seemingly heading directly towards her target in the most direct route possible.

Without further order the rest of them stayed put, still entranced by the object that had bewitched them all.

While the building was certainly ominous enough it was in a sterile, authoritarian sort of manner. A place for everything and everything in it's place. No dust in corners, no chairs pushed out from tables, no book unshelved. A variable librarian's dream, though with Basil's non-stereotypical approach to his job description it didn't really seem as if this would be his dream library.

Lucky for the ladies, their footfall made no noise in this place. Which was really odd considering the tall ceilings and the tile flooring. The lack of sound would make it that much easier for them to get the drop on their intended target, which they could hear rustling around somewhere in between the rows and rows of books.

"Blast it all! There has to be something here somewhere!" A familiar voice called out in frustration.

Haley motioned for as many of the girls to huddle in as possible, and spoke in a whisper, "You all fan out and keep quiet...I'll go up and see if I can get a drop on him."

She stepped back and floated upwards effortlessly--if nothing else, using her TK in the mind was a hell of a lot easier than it was in the real world. She hovered for a moment above the stacks and then started flying over them slowly, seeing if she could follow the sound of the voice, trying to avoid light sources that would cast her shadow.

The girls didn't seem as apt to listen to Haley as they were Colette, but seemed to come to the cumulative understanding that she was helping Colette somehow so unless Colette told them otherwise, they'd go along with what they were told.

Being by himself, the conversation was intermittent at best, giving Haley a patchy idea of where he might be.

"Think think think think you imbecile!" The voice chided itself. "Epilepsy perhaps?"

While he too had silent footfalls he wasn't invisible here and as such, when he moved to a new section of the library Haley caught a glimpse of him.

Probably not to her surprise, the Bailey was nearly identical physically to his counterpart save his hair. All of the Bohemian's fun, curly hair was lopped short and tight against the Bailey's head in a very professional but not very interesting cut. he was clad head to toe in black and wore a police officer's cap which bore a bright gold badge which didn't actually exist in any jurisdiction in the UK.

He moved deftly, though he didn't seem to be aware of Haley following him just yet.

It was then that Haley's shadowing was ruined. One of Basil's muses had stumbled upon the Bailey in her meandering, letting out a high pitched squeal.

"Basil!" It cried out in excitement, completely betraying Haley's command to be silent. The Bailey reacted by taking in his surroundings under the impression that if it was here, so too would his opposite be, and was completely taken off guard when it was Haley who was following him.

"Jog on!" He hissed at her over his shoulder, plowing right through the figment of his imagination and dissipating her faster and easier than the other had summoned her before darting quickly around a shelf to try to lose her.

Haley withdrew a drawstring pouch from her duster's pocket, still somewhat surprised that she was able to do it. Maybe this mindscape shit wasn't so bad after all? She dumped the contents into her hand, a pile of sparkling pink powder, took a deep breath, and blew the dust out in front of her to hopefully reveal the hidden boy.

It worked, but the reaction was completely different this time. Only one thing was hidden now, the Bailey.

The Bailey straightened up quickly once he realized where the familiar voice was coming from. He stared at Colette for several moments with a thoughtful look on his face before divulging -

"Get him before he gets me, I thought it was pretty obvious." Bailey replied to Haley's question since he was being 'forced' to, but as he spoke he looked at Colette the entire time. Finally his curiosity got the better of him.

"How much did you have to drink to end up looking like that?" He asked. His right arm was folded across his chest with the elbow resting in it, the other was brought up close to his face but it wasn't touching. Instead, the fingers were slowly rubbing against themselves, the thumb brushing along the tips of the other. His brow was knitted lightly in thought, his mouth otherwise devoid of giving away any strong emotion one way or another.

Body language he may have normally engaged in, but would be lost thanks to his 'condition'.

He didn't snap like the other, or let his emotions get the better of him. Instead, a rather Snape-ish look of disgust painted itself across his features, the kind that withered magical school children to about ten inches tall.

"Oh I'm sorry. Yes, please, let's have a long discussion about all of this while he is undoubtedly on his way here to murder me. That would be delightful." He stated, leaning his back against the book case. His left hand continued to play against itself while he recalled all that had happened since the beginning of this fiasco, his face relaxing again into a stoic expression.

"The Madame asked me to lunch with her because she was concerned about my well-being and while I don't much fancy eating in general, I hadn't gotten in my elevensies yet like I like to, so I agreed to go with her since she seemed to want it so very badly. As I remember it, we were having a discussion about Madame's physical properties being such that she can withstand great temperatures, when this... buffoon shows up out of nowhere and starts squawking at me about who I am and how I am not supposed to be there when I was present first. Then he assaults me physically to try to get me to leave. I tried to fend him off but he over-powered me and locked me up in what I can only describe as the most horrid closet imaginable. He left me in there by myself for days before finally realizing that even with his overwhelming libido and tiny squirrel brain combined he incapable of handling the responsibility of steering the ship as it were. So he lets me out under the condition I play by his rules. "

Bailey's expression of aloof detachment cracked into a self-amused smirk not unlike Boheme's, though with a far more sinister edge to it.

"It was pathetic really, how easy it was to gain his trust. And while I worked at that, I plotted for just the right moment and scenario in which to gain the upper hand and escape.

And then inspiration hit. He seemed to know somehow that I had invited the Madame to attend a social event and was very eager for us to follow through on that. I realized then that was my window to incapacitate him.

There have been four instances in which the gates to the city have temporarily shut themselves, three of which involved a significant amount of danger to my personage so I wasn't looking to relive one of those again. The point was to get rid of him, not both of us."
He stated, making a snuffling sound at the end of his statement.

" The fourth however involved a lot of alcohol consumption and a very attractive woman. All I needed to do was to place this moron in just such a scenario and let him tie his own noose. At some point I left him alone to operate on his own accord, and wait for the gates to lock, the intention being to come back to him later and end him so things could go back to normal. I didn't except us both to be incapacitated.

When I came to in the same position I'd set myself sentry to the gate, I ran for it. I didn't know where he was but I suspected if I passed out when he did, he was probably awake again as well. And he was not going to be pleased with my actions. I came here to see if I could find another, quicker way of getting him out of the way. And then you showed up and turned me into a primary school craft project.

Sum things up enough for you? I'm not as good at art as you are, so please don't ask me to illustrate further."

He sighed, and furrowed his brow. "Just take me back and let him end me, I can't take four of you and I'm not going to waste energy trying."
