Sharky and the Beast

Built with a generous grant from one of the University's benefactors, this clinic serves as a small teaching hospital as well. More severe injuries are stabilized, then transported to Muir Island. It also houses the University's research laboratories.

Sharky and the Beast

Postby Toshiro Narumi » Mon Jan 09, 2017 8:23 pm

Tosh was a rookie scientist specializing in engineering, so figuring out what Finn had used on Will wasn't something he could do by himself. Luckily there was a brilliant actual scientist on campus. So, delicately carrying a box full of pilfered glassware/evidence, he knocked on the door to Doctor McCoy's lab with a foot.

Doctor McCoy raises a blue, furry brow at what Tosh is carrying in.

"Been to a rummage sale, have we?"

"Strange, I didn't expect this sort of equipment to smell... so much like bacon," He tilts his head in confusion, sniffing.

Tosh himself also smelled rather like bacon. "His lair is a... butcher shop smokehouse. I'm amazed my alter ego didn't eat everything."

He grew serious. "More importantly, he kidnapped Will and injected him with a mixture of these ingredients to disable him... or... worse. We're working on finding where he sent Will after that but I need your help figuring out what this crap did to him."

"Yeah. I'm... really worried. Some of these labels are for things that are only supposed to exist in mythology, but that seems to be going around."

"And this one is a bit of Will," he said, motioning to a bottle whose neck is gummed up with gooey 'clay,' "... or possibly meat byproduct... but it smells right."

"Thanks Doctor McCoy," he nodded with a relieved smile that was more 'fanboy-ish' than he intended. "Just tell me what to do to help," he said as he began unloading the box.

Doctor McCoy gets to work on separating out what he can, running a battery of tests with reagents and ultimately even running them through gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. He's mindful of the limited number of samples, but he can't afford to leave a stone unturned.

The providence of the items appears to be genuine, as much as can be determined -- the X-Men do have more experience with some of these sorts of mythological equivilents than standard science, and a linkup to the Stark Database at the Avengers Mansion provides some more information -- thanks, Thor!

Most of the immediate information gathered from basic tests and whatnot sort of meshed with what Tosh already had learned via his Trusty Science Phone. There were psychotropics, which would presumably make their subject more open to suggestion. There were motor-neuron suppressors, which could cause paralysis. The Moly and Gingold would likely run interference with Will's natural shifting abilities, though they didn't have a substantial enough amount of material to test that on at the moment.

The vials from Setec Astronomy were a little less clear. These chemical formulas were not present in the database, though they did match the labels on the front. Their purpose was vaguer, at the moment.

"At worst, this is a cocktail that is trying every last thing to neutralize Mister Stanton's abilities."

"I honestly can't say what could kill Mister Stanton, but this is absolutely the old college try. I won't know more until I run more tests on the clay residue to see how it affected him."
