[Social] A Soft Buzz

[Laura Weston]

Wrapped in a towel, Laura is stretched out on her stomach on one of the benches in the sauna, head on her arms watching the door. As she relaxes, occasionally her wings give a buzzing flutter, making a soft noise and stirring the visible steam around them.

[Haley Crusek]

Haley stepped into the sauna wearing a bikini and a pair of earbuds, face buried in her phone. It was only the buzz of the wings scattering the steam that made her aware she wasn't alone, and she let out a startled yelp.

"Shit! Sorry. Didn't see you..." she chuckled nervously. "...Laura, right?"

[Laura Weston]

"Yeah," she says, opening her eyes, looking in Haley's direction. "Short blond blur means... Haley?"

[Haley Crusek]

"Short? Excuse me, miss, I am 5 feet and one half an inch." she replied with mock indignation before breaking into a chuckle.

"Yeah. That's me. Tiny Texan Teek. You mind company?”

[Laura Weston]

She gestures at one of the benches. "Not at all, how are you doing after all this?"

[Haley Crusek]

Haley took a seat, chewing her lip in thought as she processed the question. "I...honestly don't know. Part of me was glad to have my annoying telepathy gone, but I felt just hollow with out my TK, and...I dunno. I've been in a funk most of the year, so all of this mess just sort of added to the pile."

[Laura Weston]

"What's on the bottom of the pile?" She crosses her arms in front of her and raises herself up a bit so that it looks like she's actually paying attention to the conversation.

[Haley Crusek]

“I lit my ex-boyfriends brain on fire accidentally,” she replied. It was sort of hard to tell if she was being literal or figurative, to be honest.

“I’m jealous, overstepped my bounds with my telepathy, and dumped a really great guy over nothing and I regret it.”

[Laura Weston]

"Ah, the telepathy trap," Laura says, "I've met a few telepaths. They tend to be personal control freaks or external control freaks. I understand how it happens, but it's not really my scene, so I let them do their thing and I stay out of their way. I just stay content with being able to be whoever I want to be."

[Haley Crusek]

“Yeah...” she replied, trailing off.

“So you shapeshift?”

[Laura Weston]

She nods, "Into anyone I want. My file at X-Corp is labeled 'Changeling' because someone was feeling clever." She snorts, "Not necessarily good enough to fool a telepath, but I've gotten past some casual inspection for a prank or two on occasion. Of course, there's always the occasional weirdo who wants to me to look like someone movie star they have a crush on or something."

[Haley Crusek]

“Excuse me, I’d ask you to not judge my fantasy of making out with Elmer Fudd, thank you very much,” she joked.

[Laura Weston]

She laughs. "I try not to judge other people's things cause I don't want them judging mine. Doesn't mean I want to take part in them, especially if it's the whole reason they're interested in me is because I can look like someone else."

[Haley Crusek]

“That’s fair,” she agreed. “Is this the real you? Bad phrasing. I’m not good at this sort of stuff.”

[Laura Weston]

"No offense taken. Purple hair, bad eyesight, and 'fairy' wings, yes, that's me."

[Haley Crusek]

“I love your hair. I’ve always wanted to do a fun color but I chicken out before I ever even buy the dye.”

[Laura Weston]

"Thank you. Luckily I don't have to dye it. It just turned this color after my powers came out. I do know some good dyes though that aren't actually rough on your hair, if you're interested in giving it a short-ish term try."

[Haley Crusek]

“....yeah actually. I want to do this. Do I go for purple? I don’t want to rip off your style. I thought blue might be pretty cool....”

[Laura Weston]

There's a soft sound and Laura is replaced by a blue-haired Haley. She blinks as her eyes adjust, "Obviously can't guarantee the precise color, but what do you think?"

[Haley Crusek]

“Oh damn, I look fucking HOT. I definitely need to get this taken care of,” she replied leaning forward and gawking.

[Laura Weston]

"It's all about finding what works for you," Laura says, "Like my former roommate, Janice. She can rock a catsuit, but she bought one online without thinking the whole outfit through. Luckily I was able to bail her out."

[Haley Crusek]

Haley quirked her eyebrow, “bail her out how?”

[Laura Weston]

"I had some stuff that looked good with it and was able to help her finish out the outfit," she says with a slight laugh. "Seemed to work for her date, according to her."

[Haley Crusek]

Haley blinked for a moment before realizing what Janice had purchased, “Oh. OH. That kind of cat suit,” she replied.

“...you have a lot of that stuff just laying around?”

[Laura Weston]

"A bit," she says with a smirk, "It's... a hobby."

[Haley Crusek]

“....never really thought of having a hobby like that but.... I mean it’s more exciting than crochet,” she laughed.

“How’d you get into that sort of hobby?”

[Laura Weston]

"Had some bad relationship experiences in secondary school, decided to figure out what it was I liked. And what I like occasionally has a certain style to it."

[Haley Crusek]

Haley flashed a grin across the sauna at her blue-haired doppelgänger, "A certain style...I guess that's one way to put it. It's pretty strange talking to 'yourself' and actually having conversation about trying new and crazy things. But I've got to say I like it. You're much better conversation than my makeup mirror."

She stretched her arms high into the air and rolled her neck, sighing contentedly.

"I guess I'm pretty vanilla though. I haven't really done anything crazy in bed. I guess once I did try to do it floating a foot or two odd the bed. It didn't end great."

[Laura Weston]

"That's what suspension ropes are for or so I'm told," Laura teases, "Not that we could set those up around here though. I'm usually more about practicing the D part of BDSM, though there is a certain fondness for the B under the right circumstances. It's all about trust though, just like I'm trusting you even just telling you."

[Haley Crusek]

"I don't know you that well, I realize, but it's still surprising that you're into that. Something something books and covers, I guess," she chuckled.

"But I do feel pretty relaxed with you--even before you were wearing my face--so I'm glad you're trusting me. Guess it was a good thing I decided to come in here tonight. "

[Laura Weston]

Laura's features return to her own, her wings reappearing. "It takes some trust to tell me you melted your previous partner's brain. Maybe we could go out for a drink sometime? I mean, if the idea intrigues you."

[Haley Crusek]

“I’d like that a lot, actually.” she smiled. “I feel like I’ve been a bit of a hermit lately, cramming for orgo exams so I don’t fail my happy ass out of here, and getting out would be good.”

[Laura Weston]

"Saturday night work? Shouldn't be too busy with it being summer holidays."

[Haley Crusek]

“Yeah, that’s perfect. What better way to kick off the end of my summer course than with drinks?”

[Laura Weston]

"It's a date then, or maybe just a thing," she chuckles, "we'll see how it goes."
