Aaron was taking shots at one of the baskets on the basketball court. He was missing as much or more often than he hit the shots, but that seem to be irritating him at all. He just continued to move and shoot, retrieve the ball, shoot again and repeat.

Chase, having been drawn by the sounds of bouncing basketballs, quietly stepped through the doors to watch.

After a few more shots, Aaron glanced over. "The court's big enough for everyone. You don't have to stay all the way over there."

He briefly appeared almost surprised to be noticed so easily, then he approached.

"Right. Just... not used to so many new faces, I guess," he said.

"New faces do take some getting used to," he said, "You play?"

"No, but it does seem like something I would be good at."

"Oh?" Aaron tossed him the ball.

Chase caught it and studied it for a moment to gauge the weight, then bounced it a few times.

"Just throw it in the net?"

"Yep," he said, "Just has to go down through the hoop."

He nodded and threw it, getting the net with his first try.

"Benefits of enhanced dexterity and coordination," he smirked.

"Nice," Aaron said, retrieving the ball and taking another shot which glanced off the rim. "Abilities like that can come in really handy."

"It is nice having my body move exactly how I want it to. Short of bonelessness anyway. "

"Bonelessness?"

"I can't move beyond physical limitations or anything like that."

"Ah. Still, being above human coordination is pretty cool."

"Wolf shifter, with all the attendant feral garbage that goes along with it." He passed the ball back to Chase.

"But it has some perks too, right?" he asked. He took another, slightly less accurate, shot.

"Sometimes. And it is what it is, so no use crying over spilt milk, I guess." He retrieved the ball and did a lay up that actually went in.

"Nice," he smiled approvingly.

"I'm Chase, by the way."

The inevitable awkward question gave him pause.

"Hong Kong."

It was as true an answer as he could give.

"It's alright I guess," he shrugged.

What little I can remember anyway.

"You?"

"Mississippi, in the US. Small town called Tupelo."

"What's it like there?" he asked, stepping back and making a slightly more distant shot. Swish!

"Nice, small town atmosphere. But too hot in the summer, no snow in the winter."

"Can't say I've ever been in a small town. Haven't even stepped out into Maldon yet," he said as he retrieved the ball. He tossed it to Aaron.
