"I'm learning it isn't like most places, where I'm from."

"Antarctica. I can't be more specific--it's classified."

"Suppose that polar bears wouldn't care too much if you have tentacles or other odd extremities, eh?" Charles smiled. "Classified though, eh? People here all seem to have interesting life stories."

"Yeah. I was on a military base for...quite some time."

"Oh, so your parents were part of the military, eh?" Charles asked.

"Oh, no. They found me down there, and I spent most of my time hiding at the base before they realized what I was."

"You were what just frozen in the ice then you thawed out and played an epic game of hide and seek then, eh?" Charles asked unsure if he'd heard Will correctly.

"I guess that's one way of putting it! Yeah, that's more or less what happened."

"Sounds like fun," Charles smiled. "How'd they end up finding you out?"

"I kind of decided it might be time to say hi.

...They didn't respond well. They locked me up for a few years. Apparently, it's bad form to sneak around a secret government base."

"Ah, yeah I can see why they might get their things in a twist about that," Charles said, "Though you think you'd be happy to see a new face after a while, eh? I mean after being stuck in the arctic for so long and all.:

"Oh, people came and went. There was always something new to be, and I had plenty of friends."

"Oh yeah, plenty of stuff there. The other items in the break room, all the equipment in the labs, the network of computers...lots of interesting personalities."

"Yeah, lots of friends. Very interesting lives! You learn a lot serving your country as a couch."

"They would...talk to you?" Charles asked sounding a little perturbed.

"Well, of course not. That would be crazy! Couches can't talk," Will laughed. "Silly."

"No, it's a different level of communication and stuff. Very zen."

"Well, I just WAS the couch. For six or seven years."

Six or seven years?

"H-how'd you manage that?" Charles asked, "I mean being a couch for six years..."

"It's really quite interesting, actually. A very zen-like experience, if I understand zen correctly."

"Wouldn't really know, eh," Charles said with a shrug. "Though I guess more monks should try being couches then, eh?"

"That was a good time.

Pac-Man was pretty interesting, as well. Really complex interactions with all the little ghosts, you know?"

"You can shift moving parts and electricity and stuff? That's amazing," Charles said, "I mean I can do wings, chameleon skin, claws, tentacles, and stuff but nothing like that."

"Chameleon skin? That's really neat. I can't do anything like that.

So, you know, different strokes, right?"
