Miranda had wandered the rec complex until she'd found the hot tub. A quick trip back to the dorms and then back to the rec complex and now she was settled in, enjoying the warm water and snagging a feather that the water has brushed loose.

Haley shuffled towards the hot tub, her phone in her hands and a somber expression on her face. Without taking her eyes off the phone she stepped into the warm water, then slowly sat down, only then noticing that the hot tub was occupied, which caused her to jump and practically squeak in surprise.

"Jesus, I didn't see you, sorry."

Miranda chuckled at the surprise. "Hot tub's big enough for more than one person." Then she gave Haley a closer appraisal, "Aren't you a little young to be a university student?"

Haley barely suppressed a scowl. "I'm 18."

"My apologies," Miranda said, twirling the wet feather in her fingers. She motioned towards the phone, "Bad news?"

"Guy I was sort of seeing has disappeared. Literally." she frowned.

"Like 'poof' and he was gone? Sorry to hear it," she said with some genuine sympathy.

"Not sure. Happened on a mission while I was stuck in the infirmary."

"I'm sure they're looking for him then," Miranda said. "That seems like the sort of thing the X-Men would do."

"Yeah...we are. Just frustrating."

She regarded the girl sharing the tub. "Sorry. I'm Haley. "

"Miranda," she said. "American?"

"Yes ma'am. Austin, Texas, born and raised," she smirked, affecting a very exaggerated southern accent.

"Miss home, but this place is pretty awesome"

"Ma'am isn't necessary. Do I really look that much older?"

"Do I really look that much younger?" she smirked back.

"I dig the wings."

"Thanks. One of the many things my mum gave me. They get a lot of attention now and again, some good, some bad."

"That your thing then? Flying?"

"Not really. Never flown before. Not many good places to practice that wouldn't result in a sudden, painful stop if I messed up." She concentrated for a bit and Haley could probably sense the telepathic component of what she was doing as a golden retriever leaped into the water, splashing the two of them. It certainly smelled like a wet dog and its fur got wet like a dog's should.

Haley let out a delighted squeal as she reached out to pet the dog., but hesitated as her own telepathy picked up on the telepathic energy"...wait...so ...like a telepathic illusion?"

"Sort of," she said. "Go ahead. It won't bite."

Haley pet the dog, a smile on her face.

"That's really cool...I've got telepathy too...but...man it's no where near as useful as this. I'm way better at telekinesis."

The dog felt solid enough, so there was some sort of mass to it. "I can't do anything without the illusions," she said. Not even this. The projected thought seemed to be routed through the dog.

Haley nodded thoughtfully.

"THAT'S WEIRD" she unintentionally "shouted" mentally.

"Shit...that was probably loud. Sorry. I suck at being a teep."

"No bother. I'm still not entirely sure what I'm doing with that part of it half the time."

"Glad I'm not the only one....cute dog. From a memory or just your imagination?"

"Imagination. We didn't live in a big enough place to have a dog," she said. "I can do people as well, but they're harder in some ways."
