"Oh, certainly," Aiden said, "One cannot afford to be careless. Particularly if one is responsible for the royal family's well being. Or anyone's well being truly."

Aiden paused for a moment to sip his drink.

"My father would have likely punished me for not being able to keep myself safe as well as punished the guard."

"Was your father a hard man, then?"

"He's Lord Magneto's clenched fist," Aiden said with pride before realizing he'd not really answered the question. "A hard man would believe him some sort of ideal to strive for."

"That close to Magneto, hrm?" she said, glancing down and stirring her drink. "That must be a...different sort of life."

"How different depends on if you ever woke up on a deserted island or remote mountainside with naught but what you wore to bed," Aiden said before finishing off his beer.

"It can be quite enjoyable. The night sky is breathtaking and there's a certain peace of mind you can only find when you're truly alone," Aiden smiled. "Lost most of it's charm the first time my mother planned the... excursion and I woke up snowed into a cave without the means to make a fire."

"From Genosha? I think the furthest was a four or five hour flight," Aiden said trying to recall. "I usually slept on the flight home."

"My parents were practical so there was also a reward of some kind waiting at home," Aiden smiled.

"Quite," Aiden said, "My parents would say 'we live in a hard world', but I think that a tad melodramatic for my taste."

"Most people? Undoubtedly not," Aiden said, "Nor among Genoshans, but my family isn't common."

"They want an heir who can accomplish their goals," Aiden said, "Genosha is ostensibly a meritocracy of sorts, so the only way forward is to be better than everyone else."

Must be something of a culture shock, coming all the way out here then, yes?"

"It is very different here, yes," Aiden said in what most would call some kind of politically correct nonanswer.

"Everything is so... disorganized and the cities are filthy," Aiden said trying to find the right words to describe his feelings. "This is the longest I've been outside Genosha and so far what I've learned is that humans are almost as horrible to one another as Genoshan news portrays them to be towards mutants."

"People always chafe at rules and power structures," Aiden said noncommittally. "The needs of Genoshan citizens are provided for, so there tends to be little foothold for radical elements."

"I'm fairly certain Nika would kidnap me if I even so much as looked at the sign-up sheet. Plus, I don't exactly have an offensive powerset."
