"That makes you rather unique," Aiden mused. "Few people ever want less power."

"Few people have real power to give up," she pointed out.

"Some of it, yes. Without hesitation."

"To have a more normal life?" Aiden asked genuinely curious.

"Yes. I've been looking forward to that since I've arrived, and it hasn't...quite...worked out like that.

Not yet, at any rate."

"In time no doubt," Aiden smiled. "I only really know what it's like to be a soldier, which is considerably less interesting than movies make it out to be."

"Well, you have one thing over most of the soldiers Ive seen in movies to this point.

You are still alive."

"People do love martyrs," Aiden said, "But... yes unless I'm a very convincing figment of your imagination I have survived a multitude of missions most of which involved at least one near death experience "

"Mmm," she said, somewhat less than impressed. "Genosha makes a habit of flexing their muscles, don't they?"

"To be completely honest, yes," Aiden said, "Lord Magneto has increased Genoshan military deployments to defend mutant communities abroad. Our orders have been to intimidate first and intervene with prejudice if necessary."

"And that does such a great service for the rest of the mutant community."

"I would say it is better than nothing," Aiden said, "Grassroot efforts and diplomacy don't stop tank battalions deploying today, but my squad does. The diplomats deal with long-term efforts and outreach to stop next years tank battalions."

"And the intimidation factor encourages them to send next year's tank battalions. You catch more flies with honey, Aiden."

"In an ideal world where humans don't consider mutants to be subhuman, certainly," Aiden said, "I believe we live in a world where humans have proven they don't have overly many qualms about mistreating us. If honey worked I would gladly stand down, build houses, help after natural disasters. Whatever it is that peacetime militaries do."

"I know a thing or two about being next to those wishing we did not exist. You do not survive Nazi expansion, the Eastern Bloc or decades next to Latveria without learning a thing or two about when and if to use force."

"Its true you don't survive," Aiden said, "Genosha is not so different. It exists constantly under threat of one kind or another."

"Genosha is an island. Typically, you have plenty of warning when something is coming your way."

"Invaders will always find a way, but we typically have some warning," Aiden shrugged.

"Now, imagine if those potential invaders were footsteps away at all times. A slightly different scenario, there. You couldn't afford to constantly antagonize them."

"Depends on the power dynamics of the region," Aiden said, "If you don't have an edge then you'd likely have to find other ways that don't involve shows of force."

"And hopefully will continue to do so," Aiden said truthfully. "I was actually deployed here in hopes that the world powers would see Genosha doesn't view all problems as nails to be hammered by military intervention and perhaps to convince both them and Xaviers own that we don't eat human children. Also to convince some back home that the human run world powers aren't simply belligerent and that diplomatic efforts could create tangible benefits."

"Careful with the compliments, Princess," Aiden said, "There's been bad blood and old wounds in the past so at first glance some seem to believe being Genoshan means being a mutant supremacist or some sort of super villain bent on destroying humans."
