"Doth protest too much." He stated simply, the smirk on his face apparent both in the smoke billowing around it and in his voice.

"I'll let that slide because you're drunk."

"In vino veratis."
He states, reaching for his cup to pick it up, then spilling the rest after a twitch of pain in his hand caused the muscles to a spasm.

Basil's hand pulled back from the falling plastic cup like it was fire, becoming visible as he did so, a sneer of pain painting his face.

Chase shot up and stepped closer with a concerned look. "Oh crap! Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'll be alright.

Bloody cuts make doing.... things difficult."

"Does the spasms happen a lot?"

"Nope. First time for everything.

Probably just using it too much."

"How much have you been using them? The painkillers can't do all the work."

"Silly Chase. You can't have booze *and* painkillers."

"Oh... right.

Wait... why aren't you taking them?"

"I don't like being unconscious for hours on end."

"Why would they do that? They can't be that strong."

"I feel like the 20 hours of sleep I was getting for several days argues against that."

"Just how many pills were you popping?" he asked, brow raised skeptically.

"I assume the prescribed amount.

Colette was giving them to me and while she might be annoying me, she can read numbers."

He sat back down.

"Must be super strong then. No wonder you don't like them. I wouldn't."

"Mmmmm...

Nothing for it then, eh?

Beer and playing rounds of Snog, Marry, Avoid in my head alone until the stitches all out."

He chuckled. "Now are you doing this with celebrities or people here?"

"Whichever. I start with one person, then pick two others associated in some way to that person.

Example: Princess Cimorene, Molly Grue, and Mary Poppins."

Basil offered, choosing these similar but distinctly different characters from books he recently purchase as Chase's Christmas presents.

Chase laughed. "Tricky one. Snog Poppins, marry Cimorene, avoid Grue."

"Same, though you're supposed to explain yourself."

"Oh... uhh... Poppins is 'practically perfect in every way'," he smirked, "Cimorene is kind, brave, and a princess. And Grue is a perfectly nice old lady, but an old lady nonetheless."

"I'm going to take this moment to advise you that calling a middle aged women old is not a good way to stay alive." He joked.

"Poppins is uptight and wants things the way she wants them, which is sexually exciting but would become a serious relationship issue after awhile.

Cimorene is kind and brave, as well as incredibly well educated and determined to make her place in the world, though down to earth enough to know she doesn't have to change the world to do that.

Grue is too jaded. I don't have enough emotional stamina to crack that shell.

Which coincidentally is why I am day drinking alone on this patio right now."

"Katniss Everdeen, Princess Leia, aaaand... Trinity."

"Snog Trinity, Marry Katniss, Avoid Leia.


Trinity is hot, but she's not the sort that likes to get tied down.

Princess Leia is high maintenance and is only interested in badboys.

Katniss Everdeen is the kind of baggage I can sort out, and a little love would go a long way with her.

But I feel like I'm going to have to fight you for her." He laughed.

"And only one of us knows how to throw a punch," he smirked wickedly.

"Same choices. Trinity is super hot but also seems like a cold person. Katniss... well, I get a lot of what she's been through and I'd love having someone around to train with who's almost as good a shot as I am. And Leia has too much important stuff left to do to bother with the likes of us anyway."

"Untrue. I was in boxing club in middle school. I simply choose not to throw punches so that I don't get called things like a macho idiot.

Whooooooopppss happened anyways guess I should just start throwing hands to solve my problems." He was clearly pretty bitter about it.
