Basil was supposed to be working, but he could never be alone for long. He found his usual spot and set down his things, then got the drinks, letting Will order whatever he fancied.

For Basil it was a Pimms cup.

OK, it IS something you ask for, in roundabout ways. I suggested that I could serve as their bed -- soft, comfortable, big, and gone when they needed space. I don't think Viv or Sam thought that was a great idea, though Tereza seemed somewhat intrigued.

I wouldn't take up much space, but they're not very explicit on what they actually want me to do. And they have space constraints as it is."

"That was my first thought -- or the nervousness leading up to it. But it's lingered. Maybe I'll go get myself checked out later.

It doesn't seem to be causing harm to anything but my ego and relationships, though, so it'll probably be fine."
