[Drama] Drink Because It's Going Out Of Style

[Tereza Rozanov]

Tereza is settled in at one end of the bar with plenty of clear space around her. Her glass has been filled a few times already and she's working on another glass of beer. The bartender moves further down the bar, giving her a couple of looks before going ahead and getting another glass ready to set near her.

[Janice Gilbertson]

Never one to take obvious signals, Janice sits down next to Tereza. Of course, now she's in the bartender kryptonite area of the pub, so she has to wait to get a drink.

"That any good?" She asks offhand.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Not really," Tereza says, looking at the glass. "But it's sufficient for an experiment."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Oh? What are we proving?"

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Whether or not I can get drunk," Tereza says. "I'm guessing one of two things will happen before I can get drunk. Either the bar will run out of booze or they'll make a rule to shut this place down."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Oh, is this like a power thing?"

[Tereza Rozanov]

"More of a curse, really." She downs the rest of the beer and motions to the bartender.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Are we talking metaphorical or literal?"

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Magical, I guess, so 'literal'?"

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Oh, woof. That's outside of my area."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Outside a lot of areas," Tereza acknowledges. "Causes all sorts of problems."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"I've often wondered if I could figure out how to cause good luck but I think if a proper witch went after you I can't do much."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"She'd be the first to tell you she's not a proper witch. More of a werewolf," she mumbles, taking another dragon from her glass.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"...ah. I'd heard something about that, but I didn't realize that was you."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"It has its moments," she says, "but..." She goes back to her drinking.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"I don't suppose I could persuade you to beat up a weird marching band nerd slash furry slash thief for me?"

[Tereza Rozanov]

"That is an oddly specific request."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"I have an oddly specific nemesis."

"Which yes, sounds daft when you say it out loud."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"No more than werewolf, I suppose," Tereza shrugs, "but I'm guessing the new headmaster frowns on beating people up."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Okay so... I stopped a robbery at the fair. And she took it really personal and now says I owe her that money."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Sounds like a tough spot," Tereza says sympathetically.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"I'm not even on the teams!"

"Kind of ruined a date, too."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Yeah, this bullshit ruined a date to," she says, looking at her glass. "It's ruined several in-fact."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"You wanna vent? I know I was kind of dumping on you, there."

[Tereza Rozanov]

Tereza shrugs, "It's long and complicated and I'd probably be drunk before I was through the story. Venting isn't going to change it and besides, I promised my girlfriend I'd stop putting myself down."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Oh, so this isn't like a breakup thing."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Almost was," she says, motioning for the bartender to get Janice something.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Near miss, then? Managed to talk her out of it?"

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Complicated," she responds, "she talked me out of it."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Then why are you the one trying to get drunk?"

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Complicated," Tereza says, "I'm probably bad for her. She doesn't care." She shrugs, "And now this place is starting to look more like my old 'school', so I might as well go all in while I can."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"...well, that's for her to decide whether you're bad for her, isn't it?"

"Or if she... likes the general badness," she gestures vaguely at Tereza.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"That's what she said," Tereza grumbles.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Take it you don't agree, eh?"

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Quite the deduction," she snorts, "Like I said, complicated. And no offense, but I don't know you well enough to go that deeply into my love life."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Okay, that's... that's fair. I probably over-shared in the first place."

[Tereza Rozanov]

Tereza shrugs. "Who knows," she looks at the glass, "Maybe this is finally starting to do something. Probably not though. I'm not that lucky."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Still beer, but I can see why trying anything else might get expensive."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"There's a small employee discount, but yeah," she says with a sigh, resting her arm on the bar and her head on her arm.

"So your old school was the double-secret probation type, eh?"
