The mountain of fur shuddered.

"Yeah, don't... don't do that. That's worse. Like really bad dubbing."

"OH NOOOOOOO GODZILLA!" He continued with his 'terrible dubtrack'.

He laughed heartily. And this time he didn't break anything.

"Anyone ever tell you you're a friggin' dork?" he teased with a playful smirk.

[Ainsley Green]

"Yea, it's a thing that has been said. Mostly by my sister."

[Leo Eskandari]

"She knows what she's talkin' about," he smirked.

"So... What about your parents? They mutants too?"

[Ainsley Green]

"I don't know. I don't remember our parents. Dave never mentioned it, but that doesn't mean they weren't."

[Leo Eskandari]

"Oh..." he said apologetically, "I didn't know."

"The only thing I remember about my dad was what he said when he left. But I'm not sure if it's a real memory or just a story mom told me."

[Ainsley Green]

"What did he say?"

[Leo Eskandari]

"That there was something important he had to do, that there wasn't time to explain, and that he would come back as soon as he was able."

"The worst part was my mother never stopped believing he would."

[Ainsley Green]

"Maybe he will?"

[Leo Eskandari]

"He lied," he said firmly and bitterly.

"Even if he was telling the truth, it's been fifteen years. He could be dead for all I know."

[Ainsley Green]

'That's exactly why you can't presume he lied." Ainsley pointed out.

[Leo Eskandari]

"If he had meant to come back, he'd have sent a message somehow," he answered, obviously preferring that to a darker fate.

[Ainsley Green]

"Maybe he can't right now.

Maybe he's MI5, and on a top secret mission that's going to take 20 or 30 years to resolve." Ainsley clearly was thinking a lot more optimistic than his friend.

[Leo Eskandari]

He barked a pessimistic laugh. "CIA if anythin' spy-related. Boston, remember?"

"I guess it's... possible mom knew somethin' she didn't tell me. She was so sure he'd be back."

[Ainsley Green]

"Have faith at least that he wouldn't have told her that if he didn't intend to.

Most people aren't liars. Some might be bad, but I'd say there's more bad people than there are liars.

Mostly cause bad people often don't give a shite enough to hide their bad behavior."

[Leo Eskandari]

"Either way, he put something before us and left. And now... this creature is all he has to come back to."

[Ainsley Green]

"How do you know he'll see it that way?"

[Leo Eskandari]

"How else could he?" he sighed.

[Ainsley Green]

Ainsley was silent for a long time, trying to figure out how to express himself."I think... if I had a son I hadn't seen for a very long time... I'd just be glad to see him again. Period."

[Leo Eskandari]

"I wish I could be as optimistic as you. That I could believe my dad left because he was some hero. That he wanted me. But I just... can't. I don't think I could take it if I did and was wrong."

Ainsley fell silent. After a few moments, he leant in to hug the much larger student as best he could, around the shoulder.

Leo tensed but didn't push him away. Not forcefully anyway.

"I'm the real life of the party, huh?"

[Ainsley Green]

"Not everyone can be me. If the world was that awesome, we'd have to shut it down." He quipped.

"You are pretty cool."

"... For a dork," he smirked.
