Miriam sits at the very end of the bar, umbrella hooked on the edge of the bartop while she nurses what looks to be just a straight pint of brown liquor. She has one hand splayed on the surface of the counter, staring intently at it and the coarse stone surface that has replaced the polished wood in a rough circle a couple inches across.
