DT1 - On The Prowl

Nailah walks into the XUB along with Haley. She looks a little nervous, but at least part of that is just excitement too. She's wearing her brand new top and she's actually feeling kind of good about how she looks in it.

Charles sat at the pub staring at the list of beers not really knowing what he was doing. The bartender was watching him with a look of exasperation.

Haley strolled in a huge grin on her face, also wearing a brand new top with a pair of jeans tight enough that they left very little to the imagination, and black high-heeled boots.

"This. Is going. To be. Awesome!"

Charles looked over at the two who'd just come into the pub.

Woah...

I think we might be staring just a little

He snapped back to the beer list hoping that nobody, especially the two, had caught him staring.

"Um...this one?" Charles asked pointing at what was perhaps a random beer which garnered a sigh from the bartender.

"What about him?" she whispered into Nailah's ear as they got in line to get up to the bar, and she noticed the boy gawking.

The feeling of being watched made Charles look back at the two girls and locked his grey eyes with Nailah's for a moment. Fortunately or unfortunately his drink arrived and Charles quickly busied himself with the new experience of beer.

Probably just saw you staring. Just try to ignore them, maybe?

He took a big gulp from the pint glass in front of him and wasn't unhappy, but didn't look particularly happy either.

"I want a beer and some kinda shot. Uhm... Tequila." she picks something at random. She's nervous and this should help with that right? Might as well jump right in.

"Perfect! I love tequila. You've done the shots with salt and lime and stuff right?" she asked, pulling her credit card out as they made it up to the bar. "Two shots of well tequila and two Coronas," she grinned up at the bartender, leaning over the bar and giving him a view down her shirt.

"Uhm... No." she's forced to admit while Haley makes the barkeeper conveniently forget to ask for their ID, returning shortly with their beer and two shots of Tequila.

"Okay, so you take your hand," she said demonstrating, "and lick right here. Then you shake some salt on it. Then you lick the salt, take the shot, and then suck on the lime.

Nailah does as instructed, though after taking the shot she scrunches up her face in disgust as she fumbles for the piece of lime, only to pull another face after biting into it.

"Gah!" she finally comments

Haley clearly grimaced after the shot, but she was much happier after the lime. The bartender had been cheap and hasn't bothered to give them limes for their Coronas so Haley shoved the slightly chewed lime into her beer bottle.

"Okay. Maybe I won't get a well shot next time," she chuckled. "You okay there?"

Charles ordered another drink after his first picking yet another one seemingly at random. This time it appeared to be some kind of hard liquor with ice in it.

They always drink bourbon in movies, so it must be good, right?

He tried to drink perhaps a bit too much of it at once and and coughed once at the burn of it. Trying to hide it as best as he could so as not to embarrass himself further.

"That's probably one of the worst decisions I've made recently," Charles muttered quietly to himself feeling a light tingling that vanished quite rapidly.

"Just fine!" she coughs slightly. "That sure burns!" she adds with a chuckle. She's trying to pay it cool a little bit but she doesn't seem super-embarrassed, especially since Haley at least grimaced a little as well, which meant that it's supposed to taste kinda bad, right?

Haley noticed Charles', though she didn't make a very big deal about it, instead just smiling as she glanced at him and then back at Nailah.

"Unless you think he's gross, I think we found a good first candidate in that cutie drinking whiskey over at the other side of the bar," she said quietly after taking a swig of her beer and starting to dance along to "Shake it Off."

"He doesn't look gross." she admits, hopping off of her seat to join Haley in dancing. That's a bit more familiar ground, so she jumps at the chance.

Charles looked over at the two again as they started dancing and drank more whiskey beginning to actually enjoy the burning warm sensation it made him feel.

Nobody said there would be dancing...

It was with that thought that Charles looked away and immediately ordered another drink. The bartender now looking a little bemused at the situation.

Haley was clearly in her element and enjoying herself, though it was astounding how quickly a girl that small could consume beer. "So. What do you think about ordering our next round near him?"

"Why? What's that gonna do?" she asks. She may be dancing well but social situations and flirting aren't exactly her strong suit. Still, she's glancing over at Charles.

Haley led the way towards the bar, leaning over the bar where there was a bit of space between another patron and Charles while she waited to grab the bartender's attention. She flipped her hair back and smiled flirtatiously at Charles. "Hiya!"

"Er, Hello," Charles said, "Uh..."

...This is where I offer them drinks, right?

"You two want something to drink?"

She looked back at Charles, "This so sweet of you! What's your name?"

"One more of these," Charles said to the bartender who appeared to have a knowing smirk on his face.

"Nice to meet the two of you. My name's Charles, "Charles said the drinks making his Minnesotan accent a bit more pronounced.

Haley, two drinks in at this point was letting a bit more Texas twang than normal into her voice, so it seemed apparent she was from somewhere down south in the States. She grinned at Nailah and tried to whisper telepathically with mixed results--she at least did manage to keep Charles from hearing it unless he had some telepathic talent. Haley's voice in Nailah's head however sounded almost staticky.

"see? Just follow along. Play with your hair a bit. Smile at him when you talk.

Charles smiled at Nailah when she talked seeming not to notice the dopey-ness, which might have had something to do with having already having a few drinks or maybe he knew what he was doing?

Those wings are awesome... don't just stare say something

"Nice to meet you, Nailah," Charles said focusing mostly on Nailah, "I... I take it you two aren't from this side of the pond, eh?"

Well, at least we know its not that he knows what he's doing.

"Austin, Texas," she grinned as the bartender returned with their drink order completed. Haley took a long drink of her beer and looked at Nailah with a mischievous gleam in her eyes

"Also, he thinks your wings are awesome....not trying to peek but he's like...shouting it."

"Yeah," Haley agreed, eyes wandering the bar the tiniest bit to see if she could find some prey for herself. "I think the guy who helped me beer bong when we played truth or dare was from Chicago too."
