"If you say so." He replied, his voice getting very small and quiet indeed. Mostly, he was just trying to keep from crying. He just met this girl. Crying on her after fifteen minutes of conversation wouldn't do.

"What about you?" He asked, clearing his throat and turning the tables on her. "Are you here to get better?"

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

Jez took a slow and deep breath. "Of sorts. But not for the reason you might think. My abilities give me an opportunity to do some good, so I'm going to do just that."

[Basil Benson]

"That's good." He replied, happy to get the attention off himself. "What's yours?"

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"I make copies of myself, and I can control them with my mind. So I'm basically the best assistant ever."

[Basil Benson]

"Interesting." He replied, his voice starting to cheer again. "I feel like if there is more of you, you should get paid more money for such a job however."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"Well that's just to bide my time until I can leap-frog to the top." Jez said with a little gleam in her eye. The girl was serious, she wasn't going to settle for anything less.

[Basil Benson]

"Oh? And where is the top in your vision?" Basil asked,knowing most people envision the top differently from each other.

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

Jez rested her hands on her knees, one ankle resting over the other.

"Mm, ambassador. I think a head of state might be too ambitious. But ambassador is a nice title, and diplomatic immunity is a very nice perk."

[Basil Benson]

"Not in the states perhaps, but probably in Genosha. " Being that it's basically a dictatorship if memory serves... He thought to himself. He kept the observation internal, not wanting to insult his companion.

"I hope you get to be the best ambassador to Genosha there ever was."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"It's easy to be the best when you're the first." Jez smirked. "But thanks."

[Basil Benson]

"Ohhh I see, you're just making up your own job then. That's cheating." He laughed.

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"Well you could say that. Though I prefer to think of it as being the first to have the guts to do a job that needs to be done."

"And I wanna be on money some day."

[Basil Benson]

"Well you'd better aim for Genosha then. I hear the US only puts women on money when they do domestic chores or feel extremely sorry for what they did to 'their people'."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"Then maybe I should aim to make them feel sorry for what they did to our people?" Jez smiled. "I don't mind being on the money for two different countries. I can make enough of me that both can share."

[Basil Benson]

Basil decided not to point out that the Native Americans were, so he knew, nearly the victims of genocide.

"American Money is rather ugly. What does it look like in your other country?"

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"I wouldn't know, everything's electronic. I mean, if you were going start a car company today you wouldn't be building model T's, right? We skipped the physical money stage because it was obsolete." She mused for a moment. "Of course, for trading under the table and such, there's bartering, trading, and American money."

[Basil Benson]

"So you would create something useless just so you could be on it?

Forgive me Ms. Sherlock, but I am pretty sure someone else has already done that. It's called 'reality television'." He quipped.

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"That's the kind of joke they'd have on a late night talk show during the writer's strike."

What a smug little tart.

[Basil Benson]

"Well you're being the straightman. Woman...

If you want better jokes, perhaps you should play the fool?"

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"Me, be the schlemazel to your schlemiel?" She pursed her lips and thought about it. "Well, our last names do mesh rather well, in a Fry and Laurie sort of way."

[Basil Benson]

"Well, mine is only three letters off from some other sidekick of dubious good intent and inability to stay out of trouble."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"Funny, the one who comes to mind runs a hotel called the Farty Towels."

[Basil Benson]

"I was thinking Watson, but I will take any comparisons made between myself and the great John Cleese. It implies I might be funny, even though I know that isn't true."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"I feel like I'm becoming more British every minute I sit next to you. By osmosis or something. I'm going to have to throw some tea into the swimming pool later just to even things out."

"Like a good Brit, I shall sit by, be appalled, and let the proper authorities sort your rebellion out."
