Miriam is sitting on one of the couches in the XUB, reading a book and occasionally sipping on her coffee.

Sam has a bit of a goofy grin as she heads into the XUB, but straightens up a bit as she spots Miriam.

"Oh hey, been meaning to talk with you," she says as she approaches.

Miriam looks up as she hears Sam's voice and raises an eyebrow.

"Is that so?"

"Sorry, been on some fancy dates. Didn't mean to sound quite so pretentious there." she catches herself when she notices Sam's reaction. "You went and took a look at it?"

"His mind is a wasteland. I mean...this screams repressed trauma to me. Or possibly some kind of desperate survival. The mind does weird things if you push it too far. Either he put something in there that he couldn't handle or it's what he wanted to preserve. It's protected really well, which doesn't really help either way, but there's locks on it. That implies it's meant to be opened. By someone very specific. If it's something repressed then on some level he must have felt someone like you would be able to help him with it."

"One of them was like in a Willy Wonka outfit. One was in an X-Men uniform, but not the ones they use here at the school. One of them was... kind of primitive."

"An uniform? Do you think you could remember what it looked like enough to make a drawing? Maybe we can figure out when it was used. It doesn't sound like he should have even had a chance to see one before now. Maybe he's a little mixed up about how long he was various pieces of furniture or he met someone at the base he doesn't remember because it's locked in that chest."

"Yeah, well, we've established the fact that he inexplicably trusts you more than me already, haven't we." she says and it comes out a little bit harsher than intended as Miriam recalls the only similarly subconscious impression she's gotten from Will. The fact that she hasn't really dealt with how she feels about that doesn't help. It had been much easier to just ignore it in favor of sleeping with Trinity...
