I2DT: Coffee? Coffee.

It was early and Sean was sitting at a table drinking a cup of coffee while staring at a history textbook. Next to it was a small stack of other books that didn't really look like history text books.

Sam is passing by with a backpack slung over her shoulder when she spots him. She makes her way over.

"Hey. Sean, right?"

Sean looks up at Sam and tries to remember if he has met Sam before or not.

"That would be me," Sean said, "Have we met?"

"I was at that briefing. The nasty business with the fairies?"

"Sorry, I'm Sam."

The memory of Sam clicked into place.

"Oh, right," Sean said, "Sorry, been spending too long with books and I start to forget about people who aren't Charlemagne. Take a seat if you'd like."

"It's okay," she says, unshouldering her bag and sitting down. "It was a pretty... weird briefing, anyway."

"It usually is when pixies are involved," Sean said, "But I assume you're talking about what happened between you and the faerie."

"...oh. I guess you did remember that."

"I've ah... got issues."

"If it's any consolation it wasn't the strangest thing I'd seen that day."

Sean paused for a moment.

"People having issues seems to be a trend here," Sean said, "Myself included."

She nods.

"Guess it's not so bad when everyone's got drama."

"Probably the best support group to have," Sean said, "And pretty hard to criticize somebody for having a closet full of skeletons when one just fell out of yours."

"Is that what this is about?" She asks, looking down at the books.

"In part," Sean said, "Right now I'm working on translating a page that might have clues about what something I encountered called my birthright. Mostly though, the books I've borrowed from Dr. Malcolm are just to help me have a more.... formal education in the finer points of magic."

"Especially when it's a magical entity that takes the shape of a very small man in a fancy suit," Sean said with a slight smile.

"Sounds like you've got a bit of personal experience... though hopefully without the short man in a fancy suit."

"No, but ah... you've met Viv, right?"

"She was one of the first people I met," Sean said, "She's some variety of Fae and thought a wizard had come to muck about with the lighthouse."

"Aye. She's got... notions, about me."

"What kinds of notions?" Sean asked.

"Well when we first met she kind of stared at me like I'd grown a second head."

"Which while I suppose I could do that, wasn't the case at the time."

"But you know how it is, things... fit a pattern, and people decide you're something."

"I don't know if I really buy into it."

"...look, I've already had to get used to not being exactly human, but when a fairy princess says it to you it's... a bit beyond the pale, aye?"

As the two are talking a centipede slowly crawls out of Sean's coffee cup and onto the table. The thing is at least as thick as a thumb and of a sickly yellow color. At least that's what Sam sees. Sean can't see anything strange going on.

"What did she say to you precisely?" Sean asked more than a little curious as to what could lead somebody to circle around a point so much.

"Well ah..."

Then she stares at Sean's coffee cup.

"What. The. Flip?"

Sean looks down at his coffee then back up at Sam after seeing nothing is actually wrong with his coffee.

"I beg your pardon?" Sean asked a little confused.

"Damn it, are you putting me on? I'm not crazy."

Sean might get the impression of a flock of unseen ravens suddenly bursting from the girl as she casts her mind about to figure out what's going on.

"I..What? No, that would be..." Sean said sounding confused before being interrupted by the ravens,"...Very inconsiderate."

Now that was a bloody unnerving sensation.

The ravens feel restless to Sam, like they're eager to peck away at... something. Meanwhile the centipede has crawled out of the cup and is making it's way across the table.

"Then explain bloody that!" She seethes, pointing at the centipede, the flock circling around it anxiously.

There's nothing there that Sean can see. Sam's just pointing at an empty spot on the table, being crazy.

"There's nothing there though," Sean said deciding to use magic to try and see if maybe Sam wasn't crazy.

Sam grits her teeth and grabs one of Sean's books, trying to slam it down on the creature.

Sean's maybe halfway done with casting whatever spell he's trying to reveal hidden things (how did that work out again the last time, Sean?) when Sam slamming down the book interrupts him. When Sam lifts the book back up there's nothing there but a faint smear that, of course, Sean can't see.

"That crawled our of your bloody coffee," she says, gesturing to both the smear on the book and on the table.

"And if I'm being gaslighted here, I want to find out who's doing it," she grumbles, again casting the flock around, trying to find something, anything.

The flock doesn't really find anything but there's this faint, almost flickering feeling in the air. Like the world is having bad reception on a crummy TV.

Sean looked down at the book and still saw nothing.

something crawls out of my coffee?

"There's nothing there though," Sean said sounding both concerned and confused. He looked at his cup of coffee then back at the book still seeing nothing.

"You think somebody is making you see things?"

Miriam is sitting a couple tables over and is glancing over at Sam with furrowed eyebrows. Probably just because she just slammed a book on the table though, right?
