Eliana stands in front of the vending machines, perusing the selection of snacks with her arms crossed. She starts to put her money in and then frowns, going back to her thoughtful position.

"I've always been a sucker for Cheetos," Diego commented as he stepped up to wait his turn.

Eliana steps out of the way, "If you know what you want, by all means."

"You sure? I can wait," he responded.

"I have been standing here for some time and I'm no closer to a decision, so you could be waiting for some time."

"Alright then. Thanks," he smiled as he stepped forward to purchase his cheesy goodness. "I'm Diego, by the way," he said as he received the snack bag from the machine.

"Eliana," she says, standing out of his way. "A pleasure to meet you."

"Likewise," he said as he moved aside to lean against the wall. "Cool digs, huh?" he grinned, using a claw to open the bag.

"It is certainly interesting. I have not decided whether it is... cool or not yet."

"They have a freakin' holodeck," he pointed out, "and, yanno, superheroes."

"Indeed they do, and perhaps I am still adjusting."

"To here or to being dealt nature's little wild card?"

"To here. I've come to terms with 'nature's wildcard'. My lot isn't as difficult as others."

"Yeah. Neither is mine, despite becoming a cat satyr. At least I'm not a giant lizard or something."

"I am the only one in my family that I am aware of, so growing accustomed to having others around is taking some doing. Still, one has to carry on."

"Or as my dad put it, 'Moping about what you can't change never did anybody any good'," he said."

"A good approximation," she says, moving back forward to put her money in the machine. One of the coins falls out of her hand and rolls under the machine. "Oh, bother." Without pausing to think about it, she squats down and lifts the machine into the air. "Grab it for me?"

"Whoah!" he he gasped in surprise. "Remind me never to make you angry," he chuckled before leaning down to get the coin. It took him a few tries and a few swears about not having human fingernails, but he eventually got it and held it out.

Eliana sets the machine back down gently and accepts the coin, "Thank you. It's useful at times to be able to do that." She drops the money in the machine and selects some sort of fruit snack thing. "Of course, my mother would give me no end of grief if she saw me doing that." She grins, "But she's not here."

"Why would she give you grief for that?" he asked, perplexed.

"Proper young ladies don't do that sort of thing," she says, drawing herself up in an impersonation of her mother.

"I'm guessing it's because it was impossible when the rule was made. But what do I know? I'm American. We don't do 'proper'."

"So does the Nevada desert. Just burns that character right in. And then steals your wallet, which also builds character."
