After meeting up with Onyx Nailah drags her over to the arcade. "Alright, what kinda game do you feel like?"

"I do not know many games, ma'am," Onyx says. "I once played Pai Gow with some businessmen. Is there a game like that?"

"I don't know what that is. Just say if something looks familiar! But there's a shooting game over there, some spaceship stuff and the Dance Dance Revolution machine is super fun!"

"It plays music and shows you what button to step on on a pad and you try to dance along to it. Come on, I'll show you." she says, heading over to the machine in question.

"So you pick a song from the list..." she says as she does just that. "And then you just step on the arrows that match the ones on screen." she says and starts to dance along to the song.

"You can just hop in on the other pad if you want!" she shouts over the music.

Onyx gets on the other pad and tries to follow along with Nailah.

She is not good at Dance Dance Revolution. Apparently, "rhythm games" was low on the list of skills she learned.

Nailah, on the other hand, is pretty good. Her reflexes help too.

"You just gotta find the rhythm." she says as she's hopping around on the pad. "Bap-bap-ba-bap-bap. Like dancing, you know?"

Onyx thinks back to being raised inside an abandoned bunker. Her room was a refurbished cell with concrete walls and a cot. One night, she could hear faint music coming from a street festival. She remembered sneaking outside and watching as men and women in the streets danced together.

It was a cold night.

"No, ma'am," Onyx says.

"Good gravy! Okay, we gotta fix that. Forget the game for a second, we'll just have it play a song and then you just move along to the music however you feel like. Here..." she says, stepping down from the machine while letting it sit on the music selection screen. She takes Onyx' hands and just tries to move the girl along with her to the music, starting with just some basic swaying back and forth to the beat.

"Well it's a start. It can get way complicated, but the important part is that you're having fun moving to the music!" she says, getting a little more ambitious in her own dance-moves and trying to tug Onyx along with her.

Onyx resists briefly out of surprise, but avoids the impulse to react defensively to being pulled and tries to relax while awkwardly following along.

"Where did you learn to dance?" Onyx asks.

"I just taught myself, I guess. And then you watch other people on TV and on YouTube and you try stuff. It's not, like, serious dancing which has all kinds of rules. It's just messing around, you know?"

"You are self-trained?" Onyx asks. "I am impressed, ma'am."

"It's really not that impressive..." she mumbles awkwardly. "You could totally do it. I mean you're all kinds of crazy good at moving around. Just... pretend the rhythm is people shooting at you or something and gracefully move around to avoid it!" she says, thinking she's come up with a brilliant plan to teach Onyx how to dance that couldn't possibly backfire.

"If you say so, ma'am," Onyx pulls Nailah close and drops to the floor, pulling Nailah with her.

"Ooph!" Nailah manages as the air is knocked out of her from landing on top of Onyx, wings flapping pointlessly and doing little except adding to the general chaos. "Okay... maybe that wasn't the best example..." she says awkwardly.

"Yes," Onyx says. "I do not think that I can pull us both behind cover to the rhythm, ma'am."

"I know you got the moves." she says, rolling herself off of Onyx and just looking up at the ceiling while she mulls over how to transfer Onyx' awesome fighting moves to the dance floor. "Because you move like crazy when you, like, try to kick me in the face. Maybe if you pretend it's sparring? Only the goal is to move around a lot instead of hitting people?"

"That may work," Onyx says. She stands up and offers Nailah her hand.

"That's what I thought about this plan too!" she chuckles and takes Onyx' hand to let her help her up. She brushes her legs off and straightens out her fur before doing the same with her wings. "Okay, lemme see what you got then."

Onyx takes a deep breath. She focuses her mind and listens to the music.

She is taking this very seriously.

She spins around on one foot before ducking down low. She comes back up and hops back before pivoting and punching out and away from Nailah. She pivots back and smiles.

"Something like that, ma'am?" Onyx asks. She sounds a bit shy and self-conscious.

"Yeah! That was awesome! I mean it still looked pretty punchy but you just look so smooth when you move, it's great. You just gotta replace the punches with, like, flourishes, like..." she spins in place for a second before stopping and flicking out her arm while rotating her wrist.

"Just like that." she nods. It's all just... things that look good, you know? And then you just kinda string them together at the right speed." she says, swaying to the music a bit, taking a couple rhythmic steps around Onyx, spreading her wings a bit before dancing away again.

Onyx smiles at Nailah and tries to get into the spirit of things. She still looks a bit, well, punchy but she's trying. And at least it's a semi-graceful form of punchy!

"Hmm, well dancing's a staple but all the other games here are mostly about fighting, so maybe something else entirely. Have you played billiard before?"

"No, but I have seen others play it before at pool halls," Onyx says. "It may be interesting to try."
