Trev tried very, very hard to not choke on his coffee, or otherwise show a reaction to her comment. It was mostly effective?

I mean...at best she'll just see that my calendar is blocked off by an event that says "Coffee with Natalie :):)" right? She wouldn't inadvertently see that hidden folder of .... uh....puppies... in my Documents library. Would she?

"That's got to be annoying," he said, quickly recovering. "With everyone having so many devices and some of them probably being kinda noisy. Is it easy to tune out if you want to?"

"I had to work hard to get to the point where I can relegate it to a low buzz, but it's always there. I actually get a little twitchy when it isn't."

"Comforting background noise. I can understand that," he nodded in agreement. "Hard for me to fall asleep without white noise of some sort."

"With all the signals, I'm never without noise."

"Especially in this place," he nodded, sipping his coffee.

"I don't know how we never really hung out before," he said after a beat. "I mean, we were in a bunch of the same classes at the institute, weren't we, but we never really talked. I'm glad we bumped into each other."

"I sort of kept to myself. I was usually buried in some device or other trying to figure out how it worked."

"And I was too terrified to ever even think of talking to a girl, so... he chuckled.

"You sure that's not still the case," she says with a half-smile.

Trev froze mid sip of his coffee, and blushed.

"Uh. Maybe?" he laughed nervously, setting down his drink.

She hides her smile before a sip of coffee and then lets him off the hook, "I'm teasing you."

"Oh," Trev said, sighing in relief and chuckling a bit, through he was still clearly very flustered. "I...uh. Well. I mean. It still almost is the case. I. Just. Thank you. For coming to have coffee with me."

"You offered to buy me coffee. I can't say no to free coffee," she says with a small laugh.

"...can you say no to free dinner?" Trev blurted out nervously.

That offer actually seems to shock Natalie, "I'm.... not sure that's a good idea right now."

"...oh," Trev replied, his face falling. "Well. Uh. I mean that's cool. Maybe if you ever want to just like...text me or something."

He looked down at his watch, "so. I. Uh. Have some flying time booked in the Danger Room in a little bit. So uh. I should probably get going. But thank you so much for coming out for coffee and for fixing my new gaming rig."

"Um... no problem," Natalie says, standing up, "If it still gives you problems, bring it back to me and I'll be happy to take a look at it. Thanks again for the coffee."

Trev stood at the same time, before realizing he needed to pack all of his shit. He sat back down awkwardly and began doing so. "You're welcome!" he replied with a nervous smile.

"I'll definitely let you know. And. Uh. Well I guess I'll see you at X-team training."
And now I need to see if I can actually book the Danger Room on this short of notice....
