It's My Day Off

Normally, Tereza would be behind the bar working, but she was sitting at the bar right now, studying a drink on the bar in front of her. She sniffs at it, picks it up, goes to sip it, pauses, and then downs the whole thing in one go. She puts the glass on the bar and motions for the bartender to refill.

"I hope that your intention is to simply enjoy the flavor, because if you are attempting to become inebriated you would have better luck with embalming fluid."

Tereza stiffens at the sound of that voice, "If you've come to police my drink choices or how I choose to spend my time, then can we skip to the part where I tell you where to get off?"

"I was attempting humor. If my presence is that unwanted then I shall depart and attempt an apology another time."

"Not really in the mood for humor at the moment," Tereza says, still not looking at Vivienne. Instead, she seems to be studying her newly refilled glass. "I suppose I should let you attempt to apologize. You do have a leg up on my other ex in that you haven't attempted to kidnap me."

"I am also not insane. Kidnapping and getting you alone would be a very bad idea. May I sit?"

"If you must," she says, downing the drink and motioning for another. She tilts her head at the seat next to her.

She seemed to behaving an issue with that response. She finally took a seat remaining on the edge, straight backed. "I am sorry. I hurt you, I never meant to but I did and I am sorry."

Tereza studies the sides of her glass, seeming to mull over Vivienne's apology. Finally, when she speaks, her voice is just a bit raw, "Is the unintentional nature of the injury supposed to make it hurt less?" Then she looks at Vivienne with her golden-yellow eyes, "Because it still fucking hurts. I'm happy now with Sam, and what you did *still* hurts. Maybe you did have a choice, maybe you didn't, but it still hurts. It hurts every damn day if I give myself even the least moment to dwell on it."

"I can not stop you from feeling one way or another."

She took a moment to wave a server down and ordered a water. "Risking your ire again. In all honesty, I do not understand this double standard. You spoke of kidnap, I remember, I was there. I came for you and welcome you back with joy. I was not angry that you some how allowed yourself to be taken or that you were spending time with someone who was a previous lover in the first place. I understand you feel the way you do and that you have moved on, but why is what happened then any different from this situation now. Why I am the villain? Why is your anger directed towards me and not those who took me?"

That seems to be the wrong buttons to push as the glass in Tereza's hand shatters from a combination of temperature drop and squeeze pressure. She stares at her bleeding hand for a moment before growling, "Because she abducted me from my job. I had no idea what was coming. I wasn't 'spending time with her' as you put it. There wasn't time to ask for help. It just happened. it's not even remotely the same and you can just go fuck yourself." She grabs a napkin and wraps it around her hand, moving to stand as the bartender just nods to her.

"None of that is the point. The point is that I never thought that it was your fault that it happened. I never thought that you could have fought harder or that you did not fight at all. There was never any doubt of you in my mind. I did not just abandon you and I did not just roll over and give up. I was bound and gagged, Tereza. Just because you could not see it does not mean it was not real. They did not ask me to leave, they pulled me away, hard and it hurt, leaving you hurt like hell." Her blue skin moved.

"Believe me or not, it makes no difference now. I had hoped you and I could come to an understanding since it is your girlfriend who's help I need. I have spoken to Samantha and enlisted her aid in finding my mother. She has agreed and as soon as I can I will be leaving again."

"Fine then. We can both agree I'm a horrible person and you are apparently a saint," she growls, muscles twitching as she ties the napkin around her injured hand possibly tighter than is wise.

Sam spots the two of them, and as she reads Tereza's body language she frowns and hurries over.

"Bloody hell..."

"I am not saying you are horrible, I am saying your anger is misplaced." She was standing but took a step back as Sam approached.

"I don't know. You're accusing me of double standards and being angry for no reason, so what are the other options? I must just be a horrible, vindictive person because heaven forbid I be the least little bit right," she says, clinching her injured hand into a fist and Sam can probably sense the pain that causes.

"She is unreasonable." Vivienne takes a breath as the glass of water stops bubbling over and retreats back into the glass.

"And she's shit at apologizing," Tereza says, turning to go, "When you're ready to go find her mother, let me know, but until then she can kiss my ass."

There was an equally disgruntled huff at the table. "It does not need to be done right away. Samantha's panicked display the other night has no doubt sent any Outsiders into hiding. There is more than enough time for your...date."

Tereza snorts and Sam can tell her wolf is more in control now, "No, you ladies have your date. It is business after all. Someone nearly cleaned out my bank account, probably that alien asshole, so I have to go figure out what to do about that." She starts walking away.

Tereza sighs and Sam can sense her wrestling or maybe conversing with the wolf in her head for a moment, "She's trying to shut down because it's easier. The wolf sees her as an interloper now, because the wolf's made her choice and she knows you're not okay with Vivienne, so I can't give Vivienne the safe place she needs to open up. All that's on top of her being shit at apologizing and this being a bad time. You can give her that safe place, because I'm not sure Vivienne can see past the next mission right now and that's not good for her." Sam gets the impression that what's talking is equal parts girl and wolf and getting that much introspection and analysis out of the two of them together seems to wear Tereza a little thin for a moment.
