Truly A-maze-ing

[Trev Anderson]

Trev finally managed to get to his feet but still couldn’t really make a sound. He stumbled and tried to place himself between the two Gemmas.

“Wait,” he finally managed to force out, his diaphragm finally cooperating.

[Gemmalara]

Both of them look at Trev and, in unison, say, "Why should I?"

[Trev Anderson]

"Because...I think. Well. I don't think any of us are enemies here. Let's. Let's just stop, and talk," he panted, gasping for air.

He really hoped neither one of them decided to just fight around him because he wasn't going to be able to do much to stop it.

[Gemma Sloan]

The dragon and the elf go back to eyeing one another, obviously on edge. "Who is she, Trev?" The dragon asks, sounding just a little hurt.

[Trev Anderson]

"Okay. So. You are both named Gemma, correct?"

[Gemmalara]

"Yes," says the dragon.

"After a fashion," says the elf.

[Trev Anderson]

“Gemma...lara?” he nodded, looking to his girlfriend, then back to the dragon.

[Gemma Sloan]

"Yes," says the elf.

"No," says the dragon. There's a grinding noise and the dragon is replaced by confused red-head in an X-Men uniform.

[Trev Anderson]

“Okay. So...Gemma,” he said addressing the redhead, “I’m sorry. But I thought you were Gemmalara..my girlfriend,” he looked back at the elf.

“...I thought maybe you just had. Um. Well other fey gifts that I didn’t know about...like turning into a giant dragon...and didn’t really question it.”

Trev was red in the face and looked extremely nervous as he stood between the two girls.

[Gemma Sloan]

"But you're Trev, right?" Gemma asks. "I'm so confused."

[Trev Anderson]

“I am Trev...but I’m not sure if I’m the Trev that you know?”

“Like...” Trev seemed to be struggling to explain the situation here without getting slapped by one or more pretty girls.

He stared around, chewing his lip in thought. “So. All the anomalies I was just taking pictures of. That skyline over there. None of that is normally here. So it’s...from somewhere else? And maybe you are too. And maybe the girl you saved me from is too?”

[Gemmalara]

"I'd say that's highly likely," Gemmalara puts in, still eyeing the other Gemma with distrust.

[Trev Anderson]

“So...friends?” he asked hopefully, looking between the two.

[Gemmalara]

"Maybe," Gemma says.

"She's a dragon!" Gemmalara objects.

[Trev Anderson]

“What’s wrong with a dragon?”

[Gemmalara]

"They're unpredictable. And they hold a grudge. You've seen the way she's looking at me," Gemmalara says, as if that explains everything.

"I'm not..." Gemma says, uncertain.

[Trev Anderson]

“...she’s looking at you?” Trev asked, confused.

“...I guess. Uh. Gemma,” he turned to the redhead, “are you. Uh. Just a student at school or are you a dragon? Because my girlfriend is actually...um. Is elf the appropriate term?”

[Gemma Sloan]

"Close enough," Gemmalara says.

"I'm a student at Xavier's University. A mutant and one of the X-Men," Gemma says, obviously trying to be reassuring.

[Trev Anderson]

“Okay then, that’s two X-Men I don’t know. So I think, then, that there are multiple dimensions sort of...running into each other. So I guess there is a Trev in your universe,” he nodded at Gemma, “and Gemma and I,” he nodded at the elf, “are from here.”

“So...uh...welcome to our universe?” he squinted a bit and scratched his head, sort of satisfied there wouldn’t be a fight between his girlfriends.

Some small part of his brain said “Ladies. Relax. There’s plenty of old Trev to go around if you just share...” and he found himself staring off into the distance for a moment, a hint of a smile on his face.

[Gemmalara]

"What are you smiling about?" Gemmalara asks sternly.

[Trev Anderson]

Trev’s little mental reverie was interrupted by a sharp record scratch, and he started.

“Oh. Uh. Just...uh...you know, funny. I have a girlfriend named Gemma in two universes,” he stammered. “Like it’s meant to be—a universal constant!” he recovered. Sort of.

[Gemma Sloan]

Gemmalara rolls her eyes at that.

Gemma seems distracted and doesn't notice the quip. "I should probably go look for my Trev."

[Trev Anderson]

Trev blinked rapidly and then squinted in discomfort as his brain filled with a cacophony of female voices echoing unpleasantly "Hey....Hey....hey!

[Haley Crusek]

"Hey! Trev. It's Haley. Stop riding the dragon and use your big mouth to tell the whole campus to meet up at the union. Everything is fucked and there's like. Different universes people here but we're all meeting there.

[Gemmalara]

Gemmalara's suddenly next to him, "Trev, are you okay?"

[Trev Anderson]

Trev grimaced a bit, "Fine...Tosh's crazy ex is in my brain trying to tell me to--"

"--I can literally hear you talking shit about me. I'm still here.

"Fuck she heard that. But...apparently we're all gathering at the Union...and she wants me to yell it to campus."

He looked between the Gemmas. "Why don't we all go there together instead of getting split up. Just...cover your ears for a second?"

Trev thought really hard, which is what he imagined he needed to do to get Haley to hear him. "Okay. I'll yell. See you at the union, Haley....sorry. You're not crazy.

[Haley Crusek]

"Whatever. See you soon, fatass."

[Trev Anderson]

Trev took several steps away from both girls, took a deep breath, and shouted up into the air.

”X-Men! Meet at the Union! No matter where you’re from!

[Gemmalara]

Gemmalara uncovers her ears, "Now that that's done, shall we head there ourselves?"

Gemma shrugs, looking distinctly worried.

[Trev Anderson]

“C’mon. It’ll be better if we all stick together. Maybe we’ll find other me along the way or something.” Trev suggested.
