Sept 9 - Shady character (open thread)

It was the early afternoon, and though the skies were a bit overcast it was pleasant enough for one to spend some time outside. Jez was seated on one of the benches in the garden under the shade of a fair-sized elm. She had a bit of time between classes and had decided to have a late lunch outside, a small takeaway container open with bread, cheeses, and some fruits and veggies protruding from it. She was snacking on it idly, using the shade offered by the large tree to keep the sun off of the screen of her DS.

There's a faint "Wooooo!" coming from somewhere as Nailah, who seems to have escaped her last class for the day by going out the window, flies through the air. Without noticing Jez she seems to have picked her shady tree as her target for landing as evidenced by the branches and leafs shaking as she slams into the foliage before surprisingly gracefully coming to rest on one of the branches. "Oh, hey! Didn't see you from up there." she grins at Jez when she notices there's someone sitting underneath the tree.

Jez stared straight up into the tree. When she'd heard the branches suddenly creaking in protest she had thought one of them might be ready to snap. Which would explain why she was half-off of the bench and her hoodie was bunched up around her neck and face.

"Geeze, you scared the crap out of me!" A little chuckle afterward showed that she wasn't upset with the wilder girl, inching her way back up into a better sitting position. "What's got you grinning like the Cheshire cat today?"

"Oh just the end of classes for today. Now the rest of the day is miiine." she smirks as she begins climbing down, claws digging into the bark and making the whole thing a breeze. "Sorry if I startled you. I'm Nailah!"

Jez scooted over a bit to make some room on the bench as leaves still flittered down around her. "Oh yeah, I remember you. You had those really cute boxers at the party last week. I'm Jezabelle."

"Oh yeah right. And that doesn't sound weird at all out of context." she chuckles, carefully picking a couple leafs out of her wings.

Jez gave a little shrug. "Eh, what do I care what any eavesdropper thinks? Doesn't make them any less cute."

"Not much, just having a bit of... Plowman's Lunch I think it's called? Anyway, yeah, just some lunch and leveling up my Sableye. You want some?"

"Sure!" she says, plopping herself down on the grass, using her wings to act as a bit of a parachute to soften some of the impact on her behind. "Who else you got on your team?" she asks, popping a piece of fruit in her mouth.

"Litwick, Honedge, Phantump, Froslass, and a Graveler. Sometimes I like to just fool around and pretend I'm going to start a gym, and try to build a team based on one type." She pushed the little takeout tray toward Nailah, offering her some of her lunch.

"Yeah, it's way more fun to have a cool team than to have the best one. It'd be so cool if you could make a gym that other people could visit."

"Like visiting other people's towns in Animal Crossing? Yeah, that'd be fun! You gotta train your team and do regular stuff, but you'd also have to customize and upgrade your gym, decide on a theme for your team." Jez seemed pretty into this idea. "You'd have to have some kind of rule that limited, like, how many legendaries you could have. Maybe your team was scaled based on the level of the challenger."

"Yeah, no legendaries though, that's just lame. Nobody wants to fight a dozen Gyms with the same dumb overpowered Pokemons over and over."

"Right. And that's not what a gym's supposed to be. It'd give people a reason to play some of their lesser-used pokemon, just to shake things up."

She took an apple wedge and some cheese from her lunch and munched on them a bit. "What kind of gym leader do you think you'd be? I'm kinda guessing flying, for obvious reasons."
