"No! No, that would be...no, that's crazy talk," Katarina said, with a really, really bad fake laugh. "Ha ha HA ha ha ha."

He laughed boisterously. "Oh my friggin' God, I'm right aren't I?!"

"Of course you're not. I have no idea where you got such a...such a ridiculous idea!" Katarina protested, flustered.

"Mmhmm..." he said doubtfully... if a bit teasingly.

"Honestly. You are American, yes? So I guess you must be the...the son of a famous movie star or something, then. Because as everyone knows, if you're from a country famous for something, you have to be connected to it," she said, trying deflection.

"Fine, fine, you're not a countess," he said in a way that suggested he totally still thought he was onto something.

"Good. And we shall leave it at that," she nodded, definitively.

He started to get up.

"I should... probably get going. Thanks for the pep talk."
