"It's got to mean something, and hopefully not the obvious," he said, grasping for straws by subjecting it to a scan with his Science Phone.

[Narrator]

The Secret Science Phone showed that it was, in fact, a solid silver spike!

"Well it's exactly what it looks like. I guess we can only keep an eye out for what might be used for," he said, handing it back to Miriam.

"It could at least mean there's a chance Will isn't entirely on Lippincott's side, but that may be wishful thinking."

"If he isn't then he's been lying to his own daughter."

[Ainsley Green]

Ainsley merely listened to the conversation, sitting on the ground and sketching rather furiously.

He made sure not to draw anyone in the same scene or even on the same page, of course. That was tantamount to accidental narcing.

Still, he hadn't really been present around this many students all at once and he was eager to get them down, flipping between pages in his sketch book to place them inconspicuously separate from each other.

"Alright. So, what I think we should do about the headmaster before anything else is air our concerns with him. We can't come off as whiny teens either. So we have to be willing to compromise on things, for instance making the curfew a limit to campus or even the dorm building. Demanding he eliminate it entirely gets us nowhere."

[Robin Stanton]

"Eeanhh!" Robin makes a very convincing 'wrong answer' buzzer sound. "I say we stage a protest with excessive demands so we can compromise down to what we actually want."

[Shane Marsh]

"She's right. Never open with the compromise or you'll just end up compromising more," Shane said.

[Samantha McManus]

"So we're already backpedaling from 'spy on him because he's up to no good' and now we're at 'negotiate with him because clearly he's reasonable'?"

[Natalie Denisov]

"I fail to see what you hope to gain from negotiation," Natalie says, "Everyone wants something different, everyone is willing to accept different levels of 'compromise'. It's a recipe for showing your hand and walking away with nothing."

[Toshiro Narumi]

"I was suggesting both. The diplomatic approach in public while looking into him behind his back. Politicians do it all the time. But if everyone would rather spy first, we'll do that."

[Leo Eskandari]

"You aren't very good at this leadership thing are you Narumi?" Leo asked, "Not like we elected you anyway."

[Robin Stanton]

"Even if we don't present any demands we should maybe figure out what we want to accomplish. Resignation? Looser rules? Make every day Taco Tuesday in the cafeteria?"

[Toshiro Narumi]

"Looser rules unless we find skeletons in his closet? If he does, we can reevaluate."

[Samantha McManus]

"I mean we don't really know what we're facing here, do we? Is he even a mutant?"

[Miriam Bell]

"From the way he talks, I doubt it."

[Natalie Denisov]

"Not sure if that's better or worse."

[Toshiro Narumi]

"I'm more concerned about his agenda and his means of achieving it than his DNA," Tosh said.

[Shane Marsh]

"Yeah, I'm sure a normal being put in charge of a mutant school isn't to send a message," Shane responded sarcastically.

[Haley Crusek]

“Are we sure he’s not a Skrull or some shit?”

[Natalie Denisov]

"I can ask Shari, but I doubt they'd be this brazen, especially with us on the lookout for them."

[Miriam Bell]

"His mind felt normal, but then again, better telepaths have been fooled by them." she says with a pointed glance in Sam's direction.

"If the Skrulls wanted to infiltrate us again they wouldn't pick someone we didn't already trust."

[Diego Zapata]

"Yeeaah, guessing aliens would have bolder strategies," Diego said.

"I can do some detectiving and see what I can dig up. I have a few ideas for where to look but I may need technical help."

[Natalie Denisov]

"What kind of technical help?"

[Diego Zapata]

"Like if I, yanno, need to get into things I'm not supposed to. Or seeing if files have been altered. For instance, the student records of the prefects."

[Natalie Denisov]

"Give me a bit to set up some burner devices and I can help with that if you need it."

[Leo Eskandari]

"And I guess I'm volunteerin' to get the mood ray used on me," Leo said, "Just need someone who he'd believe could rile me up enough."

[Miriam Bell]

"Oh I can make you angry alright." Miriam volunteers.

"Wait why do we need someone to get... 'mood rayed'?"

[Toshiro Narumi]

"So I can get readings on what the device emits and hopefully develop a way to neutralize it."

"Show of hands, who here has been subjected to it? I only saw it at the end of one of Will's testing sessions."

Leo raised a hand, which looked more like a paw in his current animalistic sitting position.

[Haley Crusek]

Haley raised her hand, “Five bucks says that damn thing was a big part of why I had a telepathic migraine for two fucking weeks.”

“I wasn’t even that mad during the power control bullshit when they pulled it on me,” she... well lie is such a strong word... no. She lied.

[Shane Marsh]

"Yeah, fuck unwinnable scenarios," Shane agreed wholeheartedly.

"Hasn't used it on me, yet."

[Robin Stanton]

"So that's a no on the protest then?"

[Toshiro Narumi]

"Not yet, anyway."

"So... any other ideas on how to learn more about the situation?"

[Robin Stanton]

"Boooo. We could stage a protest and see what they do. Are you guys always this... hesitant? Come on, let's do something. Who's with me?" Robin asks, standing up on the rock she'd been sitting on.

[Basil Benson]

"Perhaps I may be of some assistance?"

Pressing lightly past Diego, Basil appeared at random in the middle of the group... Sort of.

He wasn't wearing his normal suit and tie get up, but his contact suit that kept him both invisible and 'decent'. As such, an empty school issued training uniform that was perhaps too formfitting for some people's liking folded it's arms over it's chest casually.
